    Default Dive watches

Hey watch guys, I'm in the market for a watch that can be used for diving and could use some suggestions. And when I say "used for diving", I mean has features that will be useful while underwater, not just "waterproof up to 200M" sort of thing.

    Features I'm interested in:
    - Depth gauge
    - Thermometer
    - "diving memory" (something that remembers the depth and temperature so I can log it after)

Features that would be really nice, but not a deal breaker:
    - Compass
    - Chronograph
    - Date display

I have a strong preference for an analogue watch over digital, although an analogue with digital features would be just as fine. (What can I say? I like my watches to have needles, gauges, and big buttons ) Realistically the chances of me diving more than 30M/100FT are pretty slim so I'm sure the depth range of most dive friendly watches are well within what I'll ever use it for.

I'm looking to spend under $500, but if it's a really, really sweet watch I can go as high as $1000.

On a related note, for watches that have altimeters, when it says it has a range of something like -120 to 7600 Meters (-400 to 25,000 Feet), I'm guessing that's from sea level?

Something like the Tissot Sea Touch looks pretty sweet to me.

Some of the Casio Pro Trek watches look pretty nice too and can be had at a few hundred bucks if I decide to settle for a digital watch.

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to anything you guys suggest cause you guys post some pretty cool looking watches.

The tissot is a great watch. Probably the best suited but may be more than you want to spend.

I would also look at the seiko monster. Not that fancy, but it glows like a torch and the lume is one of the best i've ever seen. Plus, it's built like a tank.

This Citizen might also fit the bill as well. Really nice looking piece and it's $500.

I'd go for the Citizen Aqualand series.

Or if you want a diving chrono..

Yeah I was just looking at that Citizen too! That's pretty sweet and better priced.

That has none of the features I'm looking for.

A Tissot Sea Touch isn't a bad idea at all, every now and again I think about one.

I've definitely used this as my secondary a few times...

Otherwise a Frogman or Planet Ocean are used as just back-up timers.

You could always pick up either of these, they're quite wearable when not in a wetsuit...

That Aqualand has everything you need, D'z Nutz! I heard Suunto was a PITA but never owned one, so can't really verify that...

My primary is a Suunto Zoop, I think it is great, particularly for the price. That said, if I had the money at the time, I would have gone for a higher end Suunto or Uwatec Aladdin.

If I got a second computer now, it'd probably be a Liquivision X1 or Linde Werdelin Reef.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I like I said, I really prefer to go the analogue route. Keep them coming!

Yeah I was reading about this yesterday. If I decide to go with a digital watch, I'd lean towards this.

For what it's worth, this one won't actually calculate your NDL profile. Not that an Aqualand or Sea Touch will either, but if you're going with something digital, the Suunto D6 (or something similar) will do the entire job.

Is one of those what you use, Matt? Which one and how do you like it? I used the Veo 1 & 2 on my open water course. They work quite well, I just don't understand why they couldn't have added a second or third button to the thing and, in the case of the Veo 1, added a backlight.

Question Deep Blue / Longines etc

I'm in the market for a dive watch and am leaning towards something like a Deep Blue but don't know of any dealers for these watches (or shop with a good selection of dive watches) in Calgary.

I'll just ask here instead of making a new thread; are there any authorized dealers for a good selection of dive watches in Calgary outside of Seiko/Citizen/tissot?

I want to be <$500- I know that likely prices me out of Longines, and normally I would make this type of purchase online but can't go that route this time. thanks for all adive or suggestions
