So I just figured I would update people for future searches.

We stayed at the Westin Galleria, which for $500 CDN per night was a shit hole. The Galleria mall is pretty cool to walk around but expensive. I had a few locals take us to a hole in the wall BBQ place called Hickory hollow. It was amazing.

They have a whole museum district that was super cool. We checked that out the next day http://houmuse.org/ and went to the Holocaust and Museum of Natural Science which was fun then found a restaurant called Lucille's nearby that was good.

All in all the best part about Houston was the food, the worst part was traffic.

Good cheap Tacos: Torchy's
Good but not so cheap: Americas

Pretty uninteresting overall though.

Rudy's BBQ - Great food...really "Texan" experience
Pappsitto's - TexMex food
PappaDeaux's - Cajun/Seafood
Top Golf
NASA
Kima Boardwalk - good for an afternoon stroll and lots of options for a nice dinner
Galleria - Downtown shopping
Houston Aquarium - Pretty good actually!
Brazos Bend State Park - If you're there on a weekend...go for a stroll with the Gators.
San Jacinto State Park - cool museum and historical stuff...watch the movie there.
Lots of Gun ranges, I like the one in Memorial.
Galveston is neat but not too neat. Ocean is not worth swimming in. Good seafood restaurants.
Whattaburger - best local fast food
Fry's Electronics - Think Costco but all electronics stuff
Jason's Deli - great sandwich shop
Texas Land & Cattle - High end steakhouse

^ San Jacinto is closed due to flooding. Rudy's isn't great food, but the experience is worth it.
