In some jurisdictions (in BC where I heard of this) you have to have a gate otherwise your road can become annexed and turned into a public road. Even if it only goes into your house.

I was always wondering why some of the shittier houses in rural BC had gates. I always assumed Grow Ops.

If I had a private road that only went to my house, I'd be glad if it became a public road. Taxpayer funded repaving! especially if said road was designed like a race track

'Having one's mind in the gutter' refers to the street gutter where waste runs which would consequently result in having a dirty mind or thinking dirty thoughts. It doesn't refer to the rain gutter which would result only in wet thoughts.

Sorry to burst your bubble kid, but your google image bombed.

Haha yeah I was kind of wondering about that, if you throw gutter into google images though you get a lot of eaves-troughs.

That is what I thought too. There was some reason you DID NOT want the Muni taking over your road but I lived in BC about 5 years ago so my brain is a little fuzzy now.
