For the interim feel free to PM me for a couple good techs I can hook you up with. But wont be doing any direct work myself.

Thanks guys, rage2 also recommended him. I did just send him a PM to ask about what I am looking to get installed.

I'm sure he will send some recommendations my way.

That blows. He's on my Facebook and I didn't even realize he stopped running his business.

    So unfortunate. He's a real stand-up guy.

Bump, also looking for a good installer.

Sent AndyL a pm for recommendations, no reply as of yet. Will post if I hear back.

I got a couple of quotes for a 16x7' door and belt drive opener installed:
    - Crosstown Doors ~$1900
    - Overhead Door of Calgary ~$1700

    Anyone have any other suggestions?
    Cheers

    Sorry folks,

Been swamped - out of province learning new skills and realizing i'm not young as I used to be I know I've got a ton of requests in my inboxes - just haven't had time.

My 2 usual referrals are absolutely hammered with their own stuff; run up to winter unfortunately.

Don't use overhead doors - the 197 they'll try to sell you is a steaming pile of ... A steelcraft t12 would much better (and I'm not fond of steelcraft) - same with their version of the genie openers.

No insight on best doors inc - I think I know who it is, not 100% though so I'll shut my pie hole.

Yea, I tried one of your referrals, he never got back to me. Spoke with him over the phone and text, never responded with a price. Thanks though

Realistically, can you feel a difference between a R9-10 door and a R-16? From my understanding, if both have the same weatherstripping. That's where the cold will "leak" in. I am only planning on running the heater to stay above 10C.

Any current reviews? Sick of my old shitty door and noisy POS opener that may or may not work depending on the weather.

    Company: FAST Doors
    Website: http://www.FASTDoors.ca
    Phone: 403-202-5555

Called them up, and received same day service.
    Technicians name was Justin.

My initial thoughts of the repair guy:
    On time
Pleasant and helpful with all my questions.

    Repairs:
    2 Cables replaced $185
Garage Door service (included checking all bolts, hinges, lube, and bending a bunch of crap back into shape, including one of the panels.) $50
1 New Hinge since it was really cracked. $10
    Shop Mats $15
    $260 + tax = $273 all in.

He was here for about 2 hours for all this.

$185 for 2 cables seems steep to me for a $15 part, but the rest of the stuff was a fair amount of work.

Overall, for the amount of time, and how well the door now works, $273 seems fair.

Is anyone able to provide some more prices on a door and opener from Fast doors or equal doors?

Sounds like North West Door and Liftmaster are the way to go.
