lol, apparently it's pretty hard to brick the nexus

I'm running AOKP 5 and Franco nightly 190, loving it.
Of course I dropped my phone and my screen is shattered to bits, so I need to find a replacement screen or buy a new unit
I can eat more hot wings than you.
So do I have to update to 4.0.4 or do the custom roms use that? Say the phone is 4.0.2, can I root it then flash aokp?
Surprised no one has posted about JB yet, flashed my Nexus this evening- so far, so good!

You'd have to check the specific ROM thread for that info. I know many kernals say they only work on 4.0.4 or later, so it would be wise to check first.Originally posted by beecue

JB is pretty good. Been running it since it was released. I miss the functionality of the custom ICS roms though. The higher resolution is a must for me.
Also noticing the auto correct seems to be different. Could be unconnected, but ever since updating to JB, my typo rate has skyrocketed, and i've seen some ridiculous auto corrects happen.
Going to flash Franco's r210 JB kernal tonight to test it out.

What k/b? I'm using swype-3.2.6-gn-land-320, no problems.Originally posted by CompletelyNumb

Can't wait for JB, but probably the last OS upgrade for my Nexus S.

Looking forward to it too. I know you can install it now but I will wait a bit longer.
I have busy box on my galaxy nexus and it feels so much better speed wise.
Using the stock one with the JB developer preview. Seems as though others have noticed keyboard lag as well.Originally posted by WhippWhapp

I'll probably revert back to an ICS ROM for now, the lag is becoming too inconvenient.

Anyone running stock 4.0.4 yakju. Try clearing out your google servcies framework in apps. Then check for update.
Woot!
Google search is sick. Can't wait till Google now starts getting to know what I'm doing etc.
not working for me
I'm running AOKP 4.0.4. It was pretty damn easy to install. I haven't flashed a kernel yet though. I read it's supposed to make battery life a bit better. Any of you have the extended battery? I'm thinking of buying it, it's around $40.
I run the extended battery, makes a good phone into an awesome one.
I'm not noticing lag of any sort, if Swype isn't your thing,I would suggest swiftkey.
I also overclock to 1300mHz.
Anyone know why when i search for updates I don't get the 4.1 update? Anything i need to do?
Have you installed a google sourced ROM, or are you still running the default one from rogers/virgin/<your provider here>?
I was 2 OTA updates behind on the rogers network, but once my buddy flashed my phone with a standard google version, I get them right away.
Im on a 100% stock Fido phone so maybe thats why. I don't want to move off of stock if i don't absolutely have to.
Can i change to google without losing anything on my phone?
I was able to get mine to work by clearing the Google Services Framework data and forcing stop on it under applications. Then I did a check for an upgrade it and it came up. Took a few attempts though.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

As for your questions, I believe if you've already unlocked your bootloader you can upgrade without data loss. However if your boot loader is locked, unlocking it will wipe your device.
