A buddy made 2000$ betting on both Miesha and Nate to win, I also put money on Nate and made some good cash, good flights overall

If they're smart, they will do a main card that has Ronda fight Holm. Then the winner of that gets a match for the title. I totally seeing this happening and I'd love to see that.

Ronda will fight Meisha, Holly will fight Zingano, or Pena
then winner vs winner (likely Ronda vs Holly)

This makes the most sense so it probably won't happen.

    Nice one.

I wanted to bet on McGregor, but the payout was too shitty to justify it and to be honest, I thought he was going to take it. Decided to bet on Meisha Tate and won there. Congrats to nate though, it was a great fight.

In response on where to go to place bets - There are quite a few legitimate websites that will allow you to.

I use www.sportsbook.ag for my betting. I haven't sent them my banking information yet and the only downside for me is that you have to wait about 4 weeks to receive a cheque. There are many others such as Bodog, Bet365, Etc.

Diaz-McGregor was never about the championship (at least not in the sense that if Diaz won, he'd get a shot at the title anyways).

I'm surprised at the people who thought McGregor was going to crush Diaz. Imo, I figured that, since Diaz is a welterweight veteran, he'd be able to hold up to McGregor's punches (who is fighting WAY above his usual fighting weight), because at the end of the day, Diaz has taken punches from some of the division's heaviest hands and feet and survived (with the exception of Josh Thomson). Having a much smaller guy punch him might've felt like pebbles on his chin. Yes, he got cut, but it's not like he doesn't bleed often in fights. I swear, he cuts as easily as Sean Sherk.

And looks like you're right. I don't want to see Rousey vs. Tate Pt. 3.
Would have been so much better if they hyped it up. Both Rousey and Holm need to prove themselves again before they get a title shot.

So Connor and Nate both 'retire' today... Must be squeezing the UFC, and the only way to break contract is to retire.

I would say that nate was making fun of connor, not actually retiring.

    Connor to WWE!

The timing of events has been a little bit fuzzy.

I've heard that McGregor didn't show up to do any promotions, so Dana pulled him from the 200 card and McGregor retired in response.

I've also heard that McGregor announced his retirement, so Dana pulled him from the card.

I agree with Dave, I think Nate was just making fun of McGregor.

Nate was definitely just making fun. McGregor is doing this because he wants to train and focus, not do all the press BS (because he has to do the most), he's serious about this fight and wants to win. That's what the rumor is, or the latest rumor anyway.

mma needs a player association or a union. it's incredible how these fighters get exploited. not saying i agree with mcgregor's actions. all other sports you're required to attend press conferences, but it would really provide some relief to the fighters to have a union supporting their goals

In most cases, only sports at the highest level have player unions. So by that logic, the UFC arguably should, but not MMA as a whole. However, I fail to see how a UFC fighter's union is going to protect the fighter. If anything, it may hinder their earning power and their negotiating leverage, and I think the UFC doesn't want it because it hinders their ability to make good fights.

The union would probably lobby for standardized fight purses (X for undercard, Y for main card, Z for main event), which hurts fighters who are more popular fighters who would argue that they should be on the main card or the main event. In addition, union rules may not allow, or obstruct, a main attraction's ability to negotiate for a cut of gate receipts and PPV buys.

In McGregor's case, which seems to centre around his requirement to do promotional work regarding UFC 200, all league-union agreements have clauses that require a fighter to do media interviews and such, and is generally considered a part of the job. None of the athletes do interviews because they want to - especially after a loss - but they do it because they have to.

I am just trying to do my job and fight here.
I am paid to fight. I am not yet paid to promote.
I have become lost in the game of promotion and forgot about the art of fighting.
There comes a time when you need to stop handing out flyers and get back to the damn shop.
50 world tours, 200 press conferences, 1 million interviews, 2 million photo shoots, and at the end of it all I'm left looking down the barrel of a lens, staring defeat in the face, thinking of nothing but my incorrect fight preparation. And the many distractions that led to this.
Nothing else was going through my mind.
It is time to go back and live the life that got me this life.
Sitting in a car on the way to some dump in Conneticut or somewhere, to speak to Tim and Suzie on the nobody gives a fuck morning show did not get me this life.
Talking to some lady that deep down doesn't give a fuck about what I'm doing, but just wants some sound bites so she can maybe get her little tight ass a nice raise, and I'm cool with that too, I've been giving you all raises. But I need to focus on me now.
I'm coming for my revenge here.
I flew an entire team to Portugal and to Iceland to make my adjustments in preparation and fix my errors I made with the weight and the cardio prep.
With the right adjustments and the right focus, I will finish what I started in that last fight.
I will not do this if I am back on the road handing out flyers again.
I will always play the game and play it better than anybody, but just for this one, where I am coming off a loss, I asked for some leeway where I can just train and focus. I did not shut down all media requests. I simply wanted a slight adjustment.
    But it was denied.
There had been 10 million dollars allocated for the promotion of this event is what they told me.
So as a gesture of good will, I went and not only saved that 10 million dollars in promotion money, I then went and tripled it for them.
    And all with one tweet.
Keep that 10 mill to promote the other bums that need it. My shows are good.
    I must isolate myself now.
I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time.
I can not dance for you this time.
It is time for the other monkeys to dance. I've danced us all the way here.
Nate's little mush head looks good up on that stage these days. Stuff him in front of the camera for it.
He came in with no shit to do that last one. I'd already done press conferences, interviews and shot the ads before RDA pulled out.
Maybe I'll hit Cabo this time and skull some shots pre-fight with no obligation.
I'm doing what I need for me now.
It is time to be selfish with my training again. It is the only way.
I feel the $400million I have generated for the company in my last three events, all inside 8 months, is enough to get me this slight leeway.
I am still ready to go for UFC 200.
I will offer, like I already did, to fly to New York for the big press conference that was scheduled, and then I will go back into training. With no distractions.
If this is not enough or they feel I have not deserved to sit this promotion run out this one time, well then I don't know what to say.
    For the record also -
For USADA and for the UFC and my contract stipulations -
    I AM NOT RETIRED.

There is no denying it, the UFC is trying to keep their stranglehold on fighters, but Mcgregor is right to be doing what he's doing. It's a power struggle that is going to expose the UFC underbelly because they're going to cut their nose off to spite their face, or in spite of their face... you guys know what I mean.

If he gets a cut of the gate receipts or the PPV buys, then he does get paid to promote.

Look at the attention he's already gotten from his series of tweets and statements. They can't buy that kind of attention, because it's authentic interest and not bought, well, not directly.

They want him in UFC 200, but they know that will send the wrong message to other fighters and Mcgregor. This is purely a power/labor struggle now.
