Really should've picked some more up a few weeks ago in the 1.60s.. at that price the divi yield was 12%! Still pretty good in the 1.80s though with a ~10.6%

Q2 numbers were pretty good so i think people are confident that they can sustain it

Q2 looked good, dividend looks sustainable through to end of 2014 but from my looks it should be good till 2015 as well (my opinion).

Declines will keep occuring but hopefully they will successfully transition from vert - horiztonal.

Anyone have any suggestions lately? Market seems to be down a little in the O&G area. Might be a good time to pick something up?

Got some capital sitting around and need to do something with it.

Raging River would be a good Jr buy if you are into that.

Anyone still following SOG (Strategic Oil & Gas)? They're down to $0.36 despite what looked like a decent Q2 report. Would this be a good entry point?

I'm still following and still haven't bought. This was a terrible quarter. Year over year they have lower production, lower cash flows, and still have not gotten their costs in line despite the pipeline being on for Q2. They lost money in Q2... The only quarter where you practically never drill! If I annualize their 6 month cash flow, their debt/CF is 8.7! Unless something changes, they're headed for zero. I'd wait for 2 or 3 good quarters before touching this name as the risk is too great.

I decided to load up some more Peyto and Tourmaline.

Pretty comfortable putting my pay cheques into these companies right now.

I like PEY, but I like PPY better. Both are top picks from FirstEnergy, but the implied return from PPY is better if you belive the target prices for both.

TOU is a solid company, btu i can't see how they can have the continued explosive growth they ahve seen previously. The impied return there is around 16% according to FirstEnergy (who rated them as only outperform).

On the shorter term horizon BNK is pretty interesting. Again rated as a top pick, with a target price of $11.00.

My opinions might be a little different in the Long term investing therad, where stability and dividends trump short term capital gains.

Yeah, PPY is great. I picked them up last year in October around $8. Enjoying the run thus far.

I'm banking on a buyout with TOU, just hoping someone big scoops them up for $65/share type thing.

BNK does look interesting, I have thought about for a couple weeks but my hands are too shaky to pull the trigger. It does look like a good time to load though, perhaps I'll move some of my riskier investments out and into BNK...

The problem with TOU is the size of them. $10B market cap today, and at $65 it'd be around $13B. That's too big to allow anyone from asia (our goverment would block it), and really who else could want it?

The $3B asset sale by DVN to CNQ was one of the largest Canadian transactions ever, so $13B would be amazing.

Any thoughts on the upcoming Alibaba (BABA) IPO?

Why do you figure that our gov't would block an Asian buyout?

It is a huge sale, but I think it could happen.

Just sold all my CSIQ at $40.33. Looking for something interesting to move this cash into...

I thought about the Alibaba IPO, I'm not sure if I'm going to bite on it or not. .

I'm debating on just a quick flip, maybe a 20-30% jump from open.

There is definitely a huge counterfiet problem though. You can find fake anything, clothes, jewelery, car parts, literally anything.

With that said, it's extremely popular for cheap items direct from the supplier. You'd find things made in China for half of what the same item would sell on ebay.

    Yeah, you can find anything.

We've purchased used equipment from Alibaba before. Including a few piling rigs.

I've never tried my luck on an IPO though, if we want in it do we just call whoever handles our investments and ask to get in on it? I can't seem to find anything on the bmoinvestorline website other than IPO's that have been issued today or this week.

I'm pretty sure you have to have pretty $$$ accounts with the banks before you can get in on the IPO. I'm just looking to buy some on the market.

It should gap up from the $60-65 ish IPO price on open then trend up on hype.

Yeah, 90% of my stocks have just been getting hammered lately.

Decided to load up some more Canacol this morning. Cheapest it's been since last year. Drives me nuts, the company seems to be doing everything right yet the market responds completely opposite to news. 'Canacol Energy Ltd. Reports Record Revenues, Corporate Operating Netback and Reserves, Filing of Fiscal 2014 Financial Results and Annual Information Form, and Announces Tigro-1 Light Oil Discovery' - stock falls 3% the next day...

Anyone follow Legacy Oil and Gas? I am seeing the latest downturn as a possible buying opportunity.
