Wind and Mobilicity is good for those who spend most of their time in the city. I am on mobilicity and pay $25 per month ($26.25 with GST) for unlimited data, unlimited local calling, unlimited txt and caller id. It works for me because I am always in the city, and when I am out of the city, if I need to use the phone, I can and it will cost me some cents per minute, but saving of over ~35 bucks a month from the best deal from most other carriers, I can pay the 15c per minute to make a phone call if I need to, but I am cheap so I usually just don't answer if I am out of town, which happens like 2-3 times a year at most.

If you are in another home zone for any of these providers, than you are back to your unlimited deals in that home zone.

Reception is spotty in some places, but for the most part works just fine at my house, my train commute and work. Work is spotty, I don't get reception when closer to the core of the building, so might try Wind as I tried it recently with someone else's SIM and had reception throughout the whole building. My friend was on WIND and had no reception in my old workplace...switched to mobilicity instead and got good reception, I may have to do the opposite now that I got a new job.
    Thank you. Very helpful.

    $57/mo, no contract necessary.

Best plan I've ever seen from a major carrier outside corporate or retention deals..sadly I believe the deal is over now. I'm happy to never have to enter a contract ever again.
Fido still has this deal going.

Fido and Koodo both still have this plan. I agree, this is the best plan I've seen from a major carrier available to the general public.

Ditto, I actually signed up for this plan based on a earlier thread that someone made with the fido deal...it is pretty stellar!
I ad switched over from virgin mobile (bell) and my plan was basically a quarter of the features the fido plan has, and I was paying $80/mo. on it.

more than likely an old plan that actually included unltd data before they switched it and he got to retain it. certain phones arent allowed to be on those plans, so im wondering what type of phone he actually has and what the plan he has is.

also, if you want to claim winner...

    carrier: ??

    Telus - $65/month

    200 any minutes
Fav10 - They changed this recently so that the new number is active 24 hours instead of the next billing cycle which is great
    6gb data
    Caller ID
    VM3
    0.45/min LD
    Unlimited text, pictures etc
    Evening/Weekends at 6pm

Some other random stuff like family calling and Telus crap that no one uses.

That Fido plan looks awesome though, I'd be on it if I wasn't out of town so much where Telus is basically your only option.

    .
be careful with that, its only a one time change in 24 hours, then if you want to change again within the billing cycle, it wont be active until next billing cycle.

I'm assuming you're calling a lot of people in the US? If it's 10 people or less in Canada, I'd swap out what you have for the Fav10. Otherwise, calling the US isn't cheap unless you do it via VOIP.

How much do you call to the US or travel in the US? Do you get additional charges if you are in the US?

I'm curious as I spend half the year in Phoenix and would consider this if this were the total bill and carrier service was good. Right now I piggy back a $40 US Combo on Telus for the 6 months I'm in Phoenix which is not bad until they add the US roaming chgs. It's still cheaper than getting a phone in the US on a monthly basis.
