Default Post Your Cell Phone Plan and Price

I've read random posts here and there about what people have for their cell plans and how much they pay...so lets put it all in one place to make it easy to refer to while negotiating with carriers? (got the idea from another forum, but those are all over canada... some regions probably get better incentives than others, so this would be a local reference)

    Carrier:
    Rogers

    Plan Details:
    $75.00/month Plan from website
    - Unlimited Local Calling
    - 3GB Data
    - Unlimited Text, Picture, Video Messages
$10 Unlimited Canadian Long Distance Addon
    $12.79 Value pack from website
    - Caller ID with Name Display, Visual voicemail plus, 100 US & International texts

    Plan Cost:
    $75 - $15 credit = $60
    $10 - $5 credit = $5
    $12.79 - $12.79 credit = $0
    Total = $65 plus tax

or at least thats what it should be... I'll know for sure when I get my bill

If the idea sucks, nobody will reply and this thread will slowly die

My plan is pretty standard. Didn't have any leverage to bargain for a cheaper loyalty plans because I had to sign a new contract with Telus. $75 a month because I added a $10 long distance plan.

    Family Calling LD
    Favourite Numbers 10
    6pm Local Nights & Weekends
    Unlimited Messaging
    Family Calling
    10 Favourite No. national
    6GB Data
    Caller ID
    Voice Mail 3

I just switched to Mobilicity after like 6 years with Robers.

Was paying $55 after retention talk with Rogers for 500mb but decent minutes. Then they cancelled my discount couple months ago and went up to $72. Then another discount back down to $65. Got fed up and started looking around.

    Now...

    $22.50 A MONTH
Unlimited Talk/Text and "unlimited" 6gb data, of course with fair use policy I'm limited to 6 gb but I'm so used to being capped at 500mb with Rogers that 6 gigs seems unlimited to me. I don't often watch vids anyway. You pay $22.5 for 12 months, then if you renew at sale periods you get to keep it at 22.5 for another year. Or you get bumped to $45.

And best of all, I have better signal at my house while with Rogers my house was like a dead zone.

The plan is $45 regularly but they get the 50% off promotion every once in a while so better do it before it ends now.

Even though I had a year left on my Rogers contract, I cancelled since only after 3 months, the savings will be greater than my losses. Rogers texted me the next day offering another $5 off promotion which I laughed hard at.

I just can't believe how cheap this is. But if you travel outside the city often, probably not for you.
You still get 30 min free outside zone air time and best of all, Mobilicity doesn't charge you a PENNY more on your bill unless you ADD money to your account so in case you go outside the city and make a call longer than 30 min, then your phone doesn't work until you call customer service and put money in your account. So much fucking win.

    Fido (Rogers)

    - Absolutely unlimited everything, local & Canada wide, Talk, text, picture/video messaging, visual voice mail, caller Id, etc. The works.

    - 2 GB data

    $57/mo, no contract necessary.

Best plan I've ever seen from a major carrier outside corporate or retention deals..sadly I believe the deal is over now. I'm happy to never have to enter a contract ever again.

How have you guys found these smaller, newer carriers? Do they have good coverage and reception? I'll be getting a new phone next week and will need it for work, so I'll need unlimited everything and good reception since I travel to remote sites quite often. These plans look awesome, but because they are newer companies, my perception is that they may not have well established networks. Am I wrong in this?

Am I the only one that believes this is unreasonable? I feel like I am being raped every time i pay my bill. I feel as if I get about $60 worth of service.

EDIT: Yeah, I feel raped seeing I have used less than 20 minutes of airtime per month over the last 2 years. I think it's time to modernize my phone plan!

EDIT 2: I can dropped my phone plan to $55/month. lolz!

None of these would be a good choice for you. As soon as you leave the home zone, you are charged by the minute and per kb used. Look at the big carriers if you want unlimited calling, don't think you will find unlimited data from any of the big 3.

Wind and Mobilicity is good for those who spend most of their time in the city. I am on mobilicity and pay $25 per month ($26.25 with GST) for unlimited data, unlimited local calling, unlimited txt and caller id. It works for me because I am always in the city, and when I am out of the city, if I need to use the phone, I can and it will cost me some cents per minute, but saving of over ~35 bucks a month from the best deal from most other carriers, I can pay the 15c per minute to make a phone call if I need to, but I am cheap so I usually just don't answer if I am out of town, which happens like 2-3 times a year at most.

If you are in another home zone for any of these providers, than you are back to your unlimited deals in that home zone.

Reception is spotty in some places, but for the most part works just fine at my house, my train commute and work. Work is spotty, I don't get reception when closer to the core of the building, so might try Wind as I tried it recently with someone else's SIM and had reception throughout the whole building. My friend was on WIND and had no reception in my old workplace...switched to mobilicity instead and got good reception, I may have to do the opposite now that I got a new job.
