Default Recharge AC when compressor is "off"

So my AC is completely depleted and the compressor is automatically off...I've used one of the recharge kits from CT before but never when the compressor has gone off, do I just hook it up as usual and fill it and the compressor will sense the gas and automatically restart?

The reason I ask is that there are tons of videos of how to bypass the safety to restart the compressor and fill but why would you do that when you can just do it without? Makes no sense to me....did I just answer my own question meaning I have to do it the hard way?

If your A/C system is empty, you first have to find the leak. The system shouldn't be empty. Filling it back up will be a band-aid fix at best.

You also have vacuum out the system before the refrigerant is added. This is to remove moisture and air from the system. Air does work as a good refrigerant so your system will struggle to cool your cabin.

TLDR, leave it up to someone with a AC servicing machine after you find the leak.

Exactly. You can't just "add fluid" it needs to be under vacuum first.
