Default Review: Sweet Tooth - Rolled Ice Cream

It looks like there is a rolled ice cream shop like the ones they have in Asia that just opened up in China Town. Its called Sweet Tooth and I went there yesterday to give it a try after dinner as i was in China Town walking by. They had a promo for 20% off this weekend. Here's my review:

Location: convienant location downtown if you are already in China Town.

Ambience: 10/10. It looks like they did some serious renovations inside. The place looks great and you get the "candy/ice cream" feel when you step inside. There is a decent amount of seating and the place was very clean. Watching the staff make ice cream is actually enjoyable and it seems like somewhat of an art form.

Staff/Service: 8/10. they had 4 people behind the counter and all seemed friendly but the place was busy so didn't have time to chat with any of them. All appeared to know what they were doing when it came to making the ice cream.

Ice Cream: 10/10. I had matcha green tea and the GF had mango. The ice cream was amazing and I will definitely be going back to try other flavors. They had matcha, mango, apple pie, taro, coconut and pandan (gf said this is like the green candies from pho places?) off the top of my head. They also had a bunch of toppings to choose from similar to the frozen yogurt shops.

Overall: 9/10. Definitely a place worth checking out.

This is my buddy's shop. This would be there 2nd day open so glad your review was A+. I'll pass this review along to him

Rolled ice cream is going to be the new "it" thing. One just opened up in Edmonton as well. Marble Slab is going downnnnnnn

That's on Center St between 2nd/3rd ave right?

That's a damn good Pokemon spawn too. They would have made a killing if they opened up before summer.

I was their first customer as they were still putting up their sign. My friend works there and told me to stop by, the icecream is amazing!

Something that'll no doubt be 'a place' to be seen, kind of like buying a coffee from 7/11 versus some third wave hipster place.

Reading I've done would indicate that it's not at all ice cream but iced milk or iced soy milk.
    Will fuck off, again.

I asked the question while there in the 30 seconds the cashier had to chat with me and she assured me they use cream (definitely no soy products) as I was curious as well.

I wanted to head back today but they had a decent line up so decided to just head out cause the shitty weather.

My friend went there and he let them know he has a peanut allergy and wondered if they will use clean scoopers to ensure no cross contimation and they told him no.

He said they were really busy and probably didn't have time to do so.

Saw this at the Richmond night market but didn't get a chance to try it. Glad we got one now. Calgary is such a small city considering there's so many food related things we don't really have. Now we need a decent poke joint and place for boiling crab.

I doubt you can really clean that cold pan up and still maintain the cold temps needed to make it work properly.

Is it wise to open an ice cream shop in September in Alberta?

I'll go try it anyways though since I love ice cream and I've always wanted to go to a hipster place.

Doesn't hurt to have a clean cold pans laying around in a freezer for back up for whatever reason.

Going to be hard to beat Village IMHO. Best ice cream I've ever had, especially Salted Caramel. They also seem to be busy year-round, likely because they sell pints and ice cream sandwiches to go.

Looks cool though, will try next time it's warm out in 8 months haha.
