Where are these numbers coming from? CA prices?
From the Scion website
http://www.scion.com/cars/FR-S/$24,930 MANUAL MSRP*
$26,030 AUTOMATIC MSRP*
*MSRP includes delivery processing, and handling fee. Excludes taxes, title, license and other optional equipment. Dealer price may vary.

Starting at $26,000 for the FR-S stripper means top of the line BRZ will easily be over $30k.

It was posted on the Scion.ca site, under the main heading etc, but they took it off again (I think someone jumped the gun) - but that page is pretty final.
Coincidence?

Let's hope that Subaru doesn't destroy this car with their "Canadian Premium". The BRZ is only supposed to ring in at about ~$1000 more than the base model FR-S in the USA. If they can stick to that kind of pricing here, there's no reason to have the Scion... Not to mention, an STI model for the BRZ is already in engineering. No reason to be an early adopter for this vehicle.
MSRP should be fine. Dealer markup is what you have to worry about.Originally posted by Phl0xed

I bet they will load them the shit load of dealer options and upsale them hard.
I've read that Subaru may develope a faster version but it will not carry an STI badge.Originally posted by Phl0xed

Makes some sense to load them up because if they put strippers on the lot then they are competing directly with Toyota who will already have a $1000 price advantage. May as well inventory the version Toyota can't sell.Originally posted by Xtrema

i'll stick with my 305hp for $22k
And if the allocation as limited as they claim, they know they can move them. I bet that the 1st 10 BRZ will be sold at just under $40K.Originally posted by heavyD

No matter if it's carrying the STI badge or not, we are definitely going to be seeing a faster version, as confirmed by Atoshi Atake (Subaru Global Marketing Manager).Originally posted by heavyD

I'm interested to see how this car turns out in the next few years.
However, the extra $1000 you pay for the Subaru get's you a reasonable upgrade for a "base model". The BRZ will be more of a "premium" base model.Originally posted by heavyD

The limited allocation is either artificial or a rumor as there have been articles stating that the plant indeed does have capacity to crank them out and they have already sold a bunch in Japan. Regardless I have no idea why anyone would want to be the first to buy one of these at inflated pricing when it's obvious there will be improvements following soon and plenty of allocation in the future.Originally posted by Xtrema

Edit: Just read a blog at NASIOC from SOA in the BRZ thread and it was clearly stated that the car will not change for the first couple of years so if you want a faster BRZ it sounds like year three of the model run.

Yeah, I wouldn't be all that surprised. I wouldn't have expected an improved 'revision' only a year or two into initial production. Inflation is definitely the price you pay for early adoption!Originally posted by heavyD
