Friday's 5-8 is clear one isn't it?

I'm so lazy with showing up now lol.

@SOAB i think there's an initiative in the group that communal shuttles (plastic) are bought and left out on the table. Generally the group hovers around courts 7, 9, 11. The group is also avg age 40+ though, and convos are generally in Canto. Few players play feather.

There's another group around 30's who play 8-11 on fridays at SBC. Feather only. Courts are booked (7, 8, 9, 11) and they even have a velcro name-rotation board. You have to prove you show up regularly to get a velcro name tag (they've run out) where they replace your onto some no-show's tag (otherwise you're "Guest 1" or 2,3,4 depending on arrival sequence). $8 drop in fee and sometimes slots are restricted so you may be turned down. haha! yeah, i've played with the Friday group enough to have my own name tag

weekend evenings no longer work for me now that i have a young family.

I love playing on those matts! Beats playing on hardwood floor any day.

One disadvantage of hardwood that I don't like is it can get slippery when dust is on it. Otherwise I hate those mats at Sunridge because they cushion too much. Not sure if the mats are just worn out or what, but you cannot explode as quick. Place is also distracting as hell too.

I dunno, I find I move way faster and can react alot faster on those mats. I play quite a lot better on those than on hardwood. Hardwood always collects dust and you slide around a lot more. The grip of those Mats more than make up for the slight cushioning they have. I can "explode" way faster on mats simply because on hardwood, your foot slips slightly whenever you push off, even with brand new shoes.

Maybe it's personal preference, but I move significantly better on those mats than on any hardwood I've played on, including newly waxed hardwood at winter club.

Yeah I find I'm faster on the mats as well, don't really notice any cushioning at all TBH. Only downside is footwork is much more important on the mats and I find they are a lot harder on your knees.

Wow, where have i been? I didnt realize there was a badminton thread. For anyone in the SE, Auburn Bay community centre has badminton from 8:30PM to 10:00PM on Mondays and Thursdays. Some great players come out and my game has really improved in the last year. Im the rare white guy what looks like hes about to drop dead from exhaustion.

The Chans lost!! They were playing Cenovus and there was a ton of errors on both sides and Cenovus came out with the win. But Shells ladies stepped it up and won the girls doubles and mixed so Shell they still ended up with the win. I hate playing at Talismans main gym and it has to be the worst place for badminton.
