Bought something off TaoBao for the first time (because I couldn't find it ANYWHERE else) in late Nov. By the time I remembered it hasn't shown up, the 35 day protection was over

Bye bye $40USD... unless I get lucky and it shows up.

I too have not received 4-5 items over the past ~4 months, super happy with the eBay dispute process. Got money back from an obvious (after the fact) scammer.

Same here. Ordered stuff from China off ebay in November, did not receive 2/2 packages.

Things used to be so quick. Now slow.
I always thought it was just because Chinese New Year coming up.

Good advice on never let them resend. Cancel and re-order.

Ordered 2 items from eBay back in September and received nothing. The buyer said it could be due to customs blah blah. Opened a dispute as none of the items arrived and eBay refunded it right away. Lately I haven't been getting anything or the shipping takes twice as long.

Amazon is the way to go I feel. Items always arrive on time/before the ETA.

Amazon is only good for US/Prime shippers. The shit from HK/China still has the same issues as ebay HK/China sellers. Here's my latest one:

Just like all the other ebay/Amazon shipments since November last year, it vanishes into the void after it clears China customs.

Expecting to ask for a refund on this one too in the next coupe of weeks.

nope, whenever protection gets below 5 days i open a dispute (i normally use aliexpress), they always ask for more time, i don't even bother responding, its usually 2 months by then which should be more than sufficient time.

I'm pretty sure its a Canada customs issue as I had about 7 orders that I placed oct/nov and I specifically ordered from US ebayers that used the ebay global shipping program as they were meant to be Christmas gifts.

The tracking always stopped working once it got to the border with the last line of "package handed off to international courier". Raised the dispute after a couple weeks of no updates and overnight got everything refunded into my paypal account.

I've re-ordered some of the same stuff so well see if it makes it the second time around.

I also haven't received any of my Chinese stuff but tracking on those has always been shit since harper destroyed Canada post with all his cuts a few years ago.

^^^ if you're using USPS, it will say that it's handed off once it reaches Canada. You then need to track it within Canada Post's system using the US tracking number.

    Maybe?
I seem to be getting mixed messages from the sellers

"I want to update you about some recent delays on items shipping from China to the Canada._
China Post's air cargo capacity has been impacted due to a high volume of items_
shipping to the Canada, resulting in longer delivery times for some items._"

    And

"Dear, Really sorry for your inconvenience, Maybe it Due to the tightened customs control and screening, There must have some days delay"

Tbh, i kind of feel bad for these sellers as they likely fufilled their end of the deal i.e ship the package, and now have to refund the payment. Can't be good for business. Btw both ebay sellers are power sellers ie 1000's +'ve feedback so its unlikely this was a scam.

^ it will be a sad day if/when sellers start refusing to ship to Canada because they end up refunding too much money.

I'd be all for a slow re-balancing of the economy to wean ourselves off Chinese made goods.

I started to do this a lot as well recently, for like 6 years I'd wait and wait and wait.

Finally said fuck this and all those China sellers on Ebay now better be shipping my shit and if it's not here exactly 1 week after the last possible date I'm opening disputes..

Got an Xbox controller coming in, seeing this thread I'm assuming it wont be here on time, last time I bought one a seller told me it's coming from the UK when it was sent from China and i got a free controller + My money back

    Dont Fall for this!!!!!!!!!!!!

They got me 2 weeks ago lol I never knew about the 60 day ebay policy so i let an ebay seller drag it out because they said they were trying to work on it and issue a refund for a late shipment. Sure enough exactly 1 day after 60 days i get this. I didnt accept their solution to resend and i said some pretty nasty things with how they tricked me. It took a couple more emails but i did get my money back.

Moral of the story, fuck em. How many things do they sell knowing that there is zero visibility on tracking as soon as it leaves the motherland? If they don't want to stand behind it, don't offer that service. The stats are likely so low that they need to refund buyers it's worth it to keep attracting people with free shipping/slow shipping/no tracking because the margins are insane. This is something eBay will never get. Only a matter of time before Ali buys out eBay too.
