Well then cool guy, why don't you tell everyone how to do this, other than spending a shit ton of money gambling, instead of running your mouth.
BAHAHAHA I have to agree that his comment sounded super douchey

It might still be cheaper, I have never looked at flying out of calgary, so Just wanted to check it out since Allegiant now charges per bag too. Just looking at different alternatives since It will be a big group.Originally posted by C_Dave45
Wouldn't it still be much cheaper flying out of Great Falls?
I don't understand your reasoning of changing departure origin because of the exchange rate. Your still converting a flight from US funds to CAD funds.
Regardless, Expedia.ca always gives the price in CAD funds, taxes in.
Hm. Maybe.Originally posted by 3drian

I just checked with Allegiant out of GF and it was $198 US return.
From Calgary with West jet, was just under $400 CAD. You still have to pay for luggage with Canadian carriers now too.
Pickup the RBC westjet credit card. Free first bag for you and upto like 7 people on your itinerary. At 50$ per person (25 each way) it adds up fast. Plus you get 250$ bonus initially and a 99$ companion fare as well to use. With a big group thats like ~600$ in savings ishOriginally posted by C_Dave45

Gotta really go into the legals of it. Looks like can't be used for groups over 10 and the $99 companion looks like can't apply for first time bookings. Hard to understand all the legalese. Plus its 99 plus all taxes and fees....which is almost the same price as flying out of GF.
I have the Visa Avion which gives pretty good rewards.
I have the WJ World Elite and TD First Class Infinite, if you book/fly with WJ regularly the WJ card is better. If you don't use WJ at least a couple times a year, the TD Infinite is just about as good.Originally posted by C_Dave45

I'm thinking about heading down on Easter weekend (March 24-28), anyone see/ know of any deals on flights?

$200 pp, but that was one way. Had the perfect 9:00 am, direct flight picked out...went to book the next day and it had jumped to almost $300. So I ended up having to book the previous night, 1-stop 5 hour flight in the evening.
Staying for a few days in Vegas, then driving down to San Diego. Flight home from SD is $300 PP. (CAD, taxes in)
Yeah, the price fluctuates a lot. Might just bite the bullet and book something. Have a great trip C_Dave!
Thanks. Talking about it made me go check the remainder of our trip. Sure enough the flight home that we were looking at jumped up $400. So I looked around. Found a direct Westjet flight home a day earlier for $900 (for the 3 of us) so I went ahead and finally booked that with my RBC points, and also locked in our hotel room. That was starting to go up as well.
4 nights at NewYork NewYork for $1100 (CAD, all-in)
Sorry to bump an old thread but Ive never been to vegas and I'm wondering where the best place to stay is? I don't gamble so I'm looking for more of a hotel in a great spot with lots of activities, basically just a super fun high energy hotel.
4 or 5 star please!
thanks
Looking for a new VW? How about a used vehicle? We are Central Albertas #1 source for pre-owned vehicles
I will beat any deal on a new VW for beyonders
Gary Moe Volkswagen/Gary Moe Used Car Superstore!
Red Deer, AB
Everyone will have a different opinion. If you want action, stay on the strip. The not-so-nice are; The Strat, Excalibur, Circus Circus, some say Harrah's.Originally posted by Redlyne_mr2

Read up on the Vegas Guide it has some good info.
Decent hotels that I like: MGM, New York New York, Mandalay, Caesars, Mirage, Treasure Island. Higher priced ones are all the new ones. The LinQ is kinda cool. A real hopping open air street, kinda like Mardi Gras. It was crazy on St Patricks day. Right beside the High Roller. We didn't go on it, but it looks like fun. They have an "open bar" car where for $20 or so, it's unlimited booze for the ride. (How many can you double fist in 30 minutes? )
Use Expedia to look at packages and use the map to see where the hotel is. The one thing to remember...LOTS of walking. I mean LOTS!!!!! When someone says "oh it's just across the street, through the Casino..." yeah, that's a half hour walk!!
Old Aladdin/Planet Hollywood would be my benchmark for a decent hotel that's located in a great spot on the strip.Originally posted by Redlyne_mr2

Easy walking access to everything and pretty much in the middle of the strip.
But it doesn't have the best pools. I haven't been or know if there is access to the PH Westgate Tower pools but their connected and could possibly be larger and better.

Planet Hollywood is my go to spot on the strip; its decently priced, has a great location (connected to the miracle mile malls and centrally located) but the pool sucks and its getting a little old so the rooms aren’t that nice. But it is reasonably priced for Vegas standards and as others mentioned its a good location and since you walk forever to get anywhere location is everything.Originally posted by Redlyne_mr2

Flamingo is also decently priced (slightly cheaper than PH) and has a killer pool, just make sure you get a renovated room as the old ones are no good, its also centrally located which is ideal.
Don’t bother with Excalibur, Harrahs, Mirage, Bally’s, Treasure Island or Monte Carlo (they’re not that nice). Skip Mandalay Bay, New York and MGM (they’re too far south on the strip). Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Venetian (little far north) are all nice but they’re all more pricy than Planet Hollywood/Flamingo.
Could also consider Aria, or Cosmo, they’re brand new but again more pricey than the others.
The Linq is interesting (I’ve never stayed there) but it seems like more of a guys trip, party hotel.
THANK you!! I was trying to think of that place, and couldn't remember what it was before PH. First time we were there it was Aladdin. Yes great hotel and nice location. Also love a little Mexican place in there for breakfasts. Salsa Cantina. Very cheap, right beside the theatre and fake thunderstorm/rainstorm place.Originally posted by ?????

And I don't mind staying at the south end of the strip. Mandalay Bay was a fantastic hotel. There's the free monorails that will get you up to Tropicana St. Then there's the city monorail if you want to go further. No different than walking from PH and going to a different casino. Once you've seen one casino, they're all the same. Unless you're looking for a specific event/entertainment, and that could be anywhere on the strip.

PH is great for location. Right in the middle of everything and close to some cheap eats (and happy hours) in Miracle Miles, however the hotel is a bit too old IMO. Not a fan.
Personally I much prefer Mirage. Decent price. Close to the Forum and walking distance to the Fashion Show mall. Good poker room options too, either in Mirage or next door @ Caesars. Cheap taxi ride to outlet mall. Good fast eat at BLT or CPK. Also love the pool there. Great hotel. Probably stayed there 15+ times, but it is getting a bit dated though.
I also really like staying at Aria. We stayed there a couple of times, including our most recent trip. The rooms are nice and big and the restaurant options are decent. However It's a bit far from everything (8-10 walk just to get to the stripe) and no cheap eats within a 15-20 min walking radius.
Stayed at NYNY in the past; not a fan of the hotel but great young crowds there ( or at least that part of the strip).
Had some of the best sleeps of my life at the Encore. Nice big room, huge washroom, very comfortable bed. Very far from everything and much much older crowd.
I've heard Linq is a really good place for the money. I'm booked in Treasure Island for my upcoming bender. I'm not too picky about the hotels, the only time you should be in your room is to sleep off the booze, and you shouldn't even remember that, haha! I am a pool junky and was very impressed with the pools at the Monte Carlo. As mentioned, get to know the monorails and you can get all over the place, your feet and wallet will thank you.
