Default windows 10 clean install issue

    hola all

I'm trying to upgrade my parents pc. Its currently running vista. I purchased Windows 10 PRO full. I made a boot disk, turned on the pc, boots up and goes to a windows logo screen and then does nothing more.

Then I tried making a bootable USB, it does the same shit.

I've read all over the internet and seems like its a common issue but haven't got a clue about a solid fix.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I'm flustered.

Can you update your BIOS anymore? Maybe the motherboard is too old to support windows 10?

I think that is next on my list. System specs are compatible with running windows 10, i'll look into this.

Did your purchase of W10 come with a disk, or a url to download Windows 10?

It's unlikely the board is UEFI, so confirm in the BIOS that the disk drive is being recognized, change the boot order to disk first, then save and exit.

When you say the Windows logo, are you referring to the Vista logo:

    Or the W10 logo:

I've found older/under powered PCs Win 10 will look like it's not doing anything for a really long time....

Just be patience and go do something else till the setup screen pops up. It does this for updates as well.

My 2009 Acer Aspire Revo (R3600?) took a couple clean installs and waiting forever still it was up and running smoothly (it has a SSD & the max RAM- 3GB)....

Good thing it's just used for music in the kitchen!

    That's a very good point.

I've installed W10 on about a dozen Vista / 7 engines without issue, but the install time can vary from 30 mins to 2 hours.

That now leads me to something else OP. For a Vista/7 to 10 install, unplug your internet connection until the install completes. I'll elaborate on that if needed.

I had a similar issue when trying to do a fresh install on an Intel Compute Stick. The BIOS on it will not accept booting from a 64 bit version of WinPE. It needed to have the 32bit only version of the USB boot drive created in order to work.

I wouldnt touch 10 with a Vista machine, with a 10' pole - especially on an aged system like that.

However, if you MUST .... at LEAST do a clean install of Vista, bring up to date and then try.
Is the HDD in good shape still?

You're assuming an aged system based on the OS and not the amount of hours (KM) on it.
