    Default Car scam - beware!!!

Its all over the news - greatcarsandtrucks.com are a fraud. They false advertise that they are an online website for people looking to sell their cars to go through them for a small fee of $99-$199 to advertise on their site.

Well apparently thousands of people have paid the $99 and gotten no calls or their money back...as the company promised "money back guarentee" in the contract if the car doesnt sell within a certain amount of time (I think it was 3 months).

Since Global did an investigation on them, the owner altered their website so that the "money back gaurentee" was no longer visible.

Anyways, funny thing is, a few years ago I remember dropping my little brother off at this place for an interview (when this place was in the NE by the Blockbuster), and this place was totally fishy. It was ran out of some dump and the people working there, I could just smell it, were very suspicious. I ended up convincing my brother to not accept the job anyways.

I hope the owner gets shot for taking peoples money and running. They also have another site/store located in Vancouver (forgot the name sorry) and its ran by the same thief. And god knows how many people they have ripped off from there.

From what I heard there are over 5000 victims in the past year and this company heavily tries to get in touch with the people who advertise in the auto trader to try to scam them out $99-200.

5000+ people @ $99-200 ea...you do the math. Quite a bit of cash.

Now we all know how the owner is able to afford that 75k Mercedez.

How is this joint still running? I mean everyone knows where they are located, why not shut em down and arrest the thieves. Theyve been doing this for years, the owner is most likely a millionaire by now.

The reason they can keep doing this is they are borederline legal. Just legal enough so that you can't get your money back from visa or pursue them for fraud. It is a pretty clever setup. Visa won't refund your money because you got a "service" which is them posting up your car on their crappy website which gets no traffic. That is what you get for 300$. The part where the scam comes into play are these "buyers" who want to purchase your car. They don't exist... The second part of the scam is how to get your money back... You need to send in a notarized copy of your vehicles registration within 7 days of the 90 days expiring. Now for those who don't know a notarized copy means something signed by a lawyer So you are probably going to be out 100$ there alone and you have to send it is in before the 7 days are up on your 90 days so if you are even a day off they can tell you to fuck off. In the end it's borderline legal... Just legal enough law enforcement can't really touch them and just illegal enough it's practically impossible to get your 300$ back.

Ya i advirtised my car with that company

Total scam. I got a little red sign that said "for sale" and my truck was on their untrafficed website for like a week. I didnt sell my car so I asked for the refund and like all wonderful scams their office magically disapeared and their phone number changed.

Total crap. Here's a note to everyone trying to sell their cars:

If you advirtise in the newspaper or online, EXPECT a call from these douches. don't give them the time of day! (or call em douches and hang the fuck up!)

Alot of these sites are get rich quick buisness's. Essentially if run properly they can make alot of money. unfortunaltly I think people of these sites get greedy and start pocketing the coin. If they where to take the money they get from people and use it for marketing advertising help people sell thier goods and increase a huge amout of traffic flow and build enough popularity, eventually a big company like Trader corporation would buy them out. Kinda like megawheels.com I think was bought out by Globe and mail a few years back for lots money. Trader corporation aquires classified buiness's on a regular basis to cut competition etc. Just sucks most end up becoming scams.
