I went in to sight in my laser at 25 yards but it seems it makes more sense to mount the laser on top below the scope. Once I had it dialled in though it was awesome. Helps me get a baseline on my scope too.
Ran outta damn time.

What is the likelihood of me giving that gun of yours a shot? (pun intended)Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt
I don't think TSE has any CZ's to rent unfortunately. They sell them all though so you can handle new ones.
Yes the CZ SP-01 Shadow has an accessory rail. And see how thin that slide is? You can get your hands RIGHT up under the barrel. Super easy to clean too, just like most of these guns. Field strip in about 10-15 seconds no problem and without tools.

Jeeze Mitsu, you have basically sold me on the CZ already! lol

I told you earlier you're welcome to try it. If you want to shoot more than a clip or two though bring your own ammo . It's 9mm.Originally posted by Tomaz

I've changed the main spring to be lighter so the trigger pull is even less...I think around 2.5lbs in single action right now. Light triggers allow you to be more accurate.
Ammo is a giant rip off at the TSE because it's marked up 100% to take advantage of all the walk ins. Even with the 20% member discount it's a rip off.
Also I encourage you to do all your own research, but you won't find a single bad word about the Shadow. It's an incredibly popular gun right now, and all the competition guys are using them too.
The only negative I can think of is that it's less tolerant of shit ammo (bad reloads, etc.) than something like a Glock would be. Buy at least some half decent ammo and you're good to go.
I am no expert, I am a casual shooter at best. This gun just seemed like the best possible starting point for me because I'll never, ever, get better than the gun is.
and the ruger again. Put on a top rail and sighted it in at 50 yards. Laser at 30.

I thought of picking one up, but decided to wait to see what the Scar .22 gets classified as
I Picked up a Remington 597 for some cheap plinking until then
I like it so far. Seems to be pretty tight groups at 50 yards. I may end up splurging for a better scope though.

Well, I take my PAL safety course next week on Tuesday and Thursday at AHEIA. Step 1: Underway!
Nice Kloubek! Soon you will join the ranks of pure awesomeness! lol
Well, I have no plans on Saturday, so if anyone wants to come over to plink, they are more than welcome to! I only have a spinner and a board, so if anyone wants to bring out any target, they are more than welcome to!

"SOON" join the ranks of awesomeness?!?! Tomaz... you've met me. And you know I'm already there.
I guess I could call them, but does anyone know if AHEIA provides an exam at the end of their course, or if I need to take that somewhere else?
Owning a gun is like having carbon fiber: You are much more awesome having it. haha!Originally posted by Kloubek

Yes they do. They give you both a written and a practical test. They also provide you with the appropriate literature and applications forms. By the time you are done the course, you will have everything you need to submit your application (minus a photograph, signed).

Perfect - thanks!
I feel like more of a man owning a gun. I shit you not. I can't seem to have enough either.
If anyone wants I have my .22 pistol up for sale. It's the bottom one in my pic above. I clean it after every shoot so it's in good shape. Accurate as hell too. Comes with original box, lock, papers, and 3 mags.
Ruger Standard Mark III. Google that shit.
250 buck.
Oh and I shot my ruger SR-22 yesterday in a field for an hour. I FUCKING love it.

I always wondered, what is the process of buying a restricted firearm from and individual, not a retailer?
Do I still need to be a member of a gun club?
Beyond's Most Wanted
Hell if i know. Wire me 250 and we'll find out together.

This may be helpful. When you provide phone numbers for your PAL references, be sure that it's a number that your reference will answer during the day. RCMP Firearm Center only call during regular business hours. I made the mistake of providing my reference's home phone numbers and of course since they both work during the day, the RCMP Firearm Centre got their voicemail. They will not leave a message, but will instead send your references a letter instructing them to call them back for the interview. Not a big deal, but it does add time to your application process and if you're eagerly waiting and checking your mailbox like I was, then the added wait time is a bummer especially if you have no idea that this happened.Originally posted by Kloubek

Be sure and sign up on their web page to monitor your application status. Oh, and give your references a heads up that when they're contacted that they're able to slip somewhere kinda private and quiet to conduct the interview.
Have fun! You're embarking on an activity that may cause your wallet to be readily available when you're standing at the counters of your favorite firearm shops....
I think my next purchase is a 22-250. Tika T3.

Suggestions on a bolt rifle (without scope) for $1000 max? can be used. best (I think) that I have come across so far is a Remington 700P LTR (308).
Can be 308, 7mm, 300 ultra. Hunting (deer/moose) and target.
Not my first choice for a hunting rifle mostly because of weight. They are great target rifles, but lugging one on your back will get very tiring. But to each his own.Originally posted by VP CRX SiR

Tikka T3
Browning X-Bolt
Browning A-Bolt
Weatherby Vanguard
I would look into them a bit further before choosing. As for chosing the caliber, the most common ones for hunting would be .270, 7mm, 30-06, .300.
one of the most accurate rounds is the 300WSM (winchester short mag). They are expensive, but very accurate, and can take down anything.
Beyond's Most Wanted
I shoot .270 Winchester with my Ruger M77 Hawkeye, it is a solid rifle for the price. I'd also look at the CV 550. The Tikka T3 is also great value, but I love mauser-style bolts.Originally posted by VP CRX SiR

Thanks for the tips Hounddog!
So, besides Wholesale Sports, what is a good place to go for a shotgun once I have my PAL? I'm not really keen on mail ordering one without feeling it first...
