I was going to say the same thing... the one used vehicle I did buy was with 6k cash, and I would expect no different in the other direction. I've been given a forged money order before, they can do a damn good job at that stuff. Cash only, no exceptions unless we both go to the bank together.

Transaction at the bank only, either the teller hands me the bankdraft or the teller tells me that the stack of cash is indeed the x amount.

Flipping cars as a hobby while making a bit of extra money is ok if you have the time, cash and knowledge to do so. It's not really a reliable source of income unless you have something set up to do so.

I do it from time to time if i find a smoking deal on a good car or someone I know wants to get rid of theirs quick or is trading it in.

You can make decent money for the amount of effort involved but there is a lot of bullshit you have to deal with when putting cars on Kijiji such as scammers... alot of them.

Me and a buddy have bought and gutted 5 or so trucks. Nothing illegal about selling parts.

    from AMVIC website.

    What AMVIC investigates
AMVIC receives about 9,000 calls a year from consumers. Some of these callers are looking for information and advice. Others want AMVIC's help to resolve a problem.

AMVIC has the authority to investigate complaints involving about automotive businesses and registered salespeople. AMVIC does not have the authority to investigate or become involved in issues arising from private sales.

A consumer must submit a written complaint before AMVIC will launch an investigation. AMVIC provides an online complaint form, or consumers can write a letter including copies of all documents related to the complaint (bill of sale, etc.) and a detailed account of all the actions the consumer has already undertaken to resolve the problem.

AMVIC responds to all written complaints. If AMVIC investigates a complaint, the investigator will tell the consumer the outcome of the investigation. Not all complaints or investigations will result in enforcement action or financial compensation.

    Direct written complaints to:

    Edmonton Office

    Suite 303, 9945 - 50 Street
    Edmonton, AB T6A 0L4

    Calgary Office

    Suite 205, Southland Tower

yeah, exactly why curbers are an issue. trust me, they look into individuals that are operating as a business would... this is more so for complains such as "zomg, i dunno carz engine blues up! fix it! i was too cheap to buy from a dealer "

flipping/curbing any vehicles is illegal...there is not a limit..it's illegal to flip even one car without a dealers license. yes there is a limit of cars you can register and insure in a year, but that does not mean you can curb or flip them.

I think Lextasy does this. Get's them from the States and flips them over here. He drives a Lambo himself, so you know there's money in it.

Ambiv investigated them before but didn't do anything, even when neighbors complained about all the vehicles .

Sorry, but I am going to call . They must have a wholesaler license or something. Does he have a D-plate?

I find it hard to believe that your friend is selling a car a week without a dealer license, got investigated by AMVIC and they didn't do anything. How does he move his cars around? Slap the plate off his other car on there?

I encountered a curber probably 10 years back where he has friends from the Toyota dealership and he used the dealer "D" plates on the cars he was selling.
