My rear window decided it had enough with living. driving my girlfriend to work, and we heard a thunk. nothing thrown at it, no bump. just shattered. probably the defroster broke it. luckily insurance is paying the bill ($1300 to replace)
for the time being i am out of my king ranch and in a 2017 XLT. cloth seats, worst interior i have ever seen. really not a fan of the truck. i am however, a fan of the v8. hate to say it, but my next truck may be a 5.0.

The 5.0L is a fantastic engine. Possibly better the the 3.5EB when unloaded. When towing, dat Tq dough. . . .

Yeah for sure. I'm just thinking, the amount I tow and the weight I tow, I really don't need that extra power.
does the rental have sport mode? how does it compare to the ecoboost?

Seen that problem with the window on an f150 forum as well. Although I don't think its unique to the truck, I think I recall old windows shattering as well from the defrosters

It does have sport mode. I used it once. Just makes the truck annoying to drive. Maybe if it was spirited driving it would be neat.Originally posted by SOAB

I actually really like the 5.0 for unloaded driving. It definitely doesn't have the torque, but it's street manners are much better. Just feels a bit peppier. Also 9.2L/100 on the highway to site was great. i would really like to tow with one.

I find sport mode almost obnoxious most of the time, its very aggressive (coming from my diesel Jeep, which I'm not even convinced the sport button was connected to anything)...definitely fun though if you're really driving it hard

its annoying in the ecoboost groups. "OMG MY FUEL ECONOMY IS TERRIBLE, HOW DO I FIX?"
picture of dash shows traction control off, sport mode on, and them doing 100 mph.
My fuel economy is legit terrible, and I drive it nice.....I get its a brick and mine has a ton of weight in options in it thoughOriginally posted by ShermanEF9

I feel your pain. I hate doing oil changes on this truck so much because its such a sloppy mess. I have been trying to find some of those "form a funnel" locally for this very reasonOriginally posted by Maxx Mazda
How about how the oil has enough force coming out of the drain plug to hit the sway bar and splash all over the fucken place, or the stupid filter drip tray that takes ages to clean after it's done leaking oil out the back all over the steering rack and front diff...

My fuel economy is about where I expected it to be. I don't really have a heavy foot or anything either though.Originally posted by ShermanEF9

In my '12 3.5EB, a trip to banff and back and I would be 10.9l - 11.2l per 100kms with the 3.13 rear end.
in my '16 3.5EB, the same trip and I got 12.5l with the 3.55 gearing.
mind you I also do 120KPH on the highways, so I am sure I could have improved both those numbers some.

Try it one day at 105 kph, you'll see a noticeable improvement.Originally posted by spikerS

basically the only time my truck will do that speed on the highway is when i have my trailer hooked up to it. haha. it just feels soooooo slooooow.Originally posted by ExtraSlow

I know what you mean, but it's not that bad after a few minutes. Drove Banff to Radium at exactly 90 km/h last summer. Interestingly, traffic didn't stack up behind me. At that speed, it was easy for everyone to pass. At 105 on that road, traffic builds up. Counter-intuitive and fascinating.Originally posted by SOAB

Are you using a tuner to get those numbers??? I am no where near that. Granted I have the 3.73 so my numbers will be a bit on the high end but Im getting 16/100 with mostly city but in the 14's on the highway. I drive pretty conservatively in the city.
Signature..... I ate it!!
lol 'eco'boost. My 5.3 silverado gets 13 in the city and 10-11 on the highway with the 3.42
sorry not trying to start a flame war.
The EcoBoost name was good marketing, but doesn't reflect the reality.
Would have been more accurate to play up the torque, because to me, that's the real reason to buy that engine. It destroys any of the gas V8 options from any brand.

I can confirm that the lwb with the max tow (3.73?) and 6 spd will use over 20L/100kms not towing anything at 150-160km/h
Problem is that it's making full boost so damn low and it's a flying brick, just constantly boosting
Pure stock, no tuner.Originally posted by quick_scar

my normal city driving in this truck is usually between 13.8-14.5, and I have found the onboard calculator to be pretty accurate too.
