Default Make sure you have a garage or cover this summer! HAIL is coming..

Reading the good old reliable Calgary Sun today and the weather mongers are saying we are in for a higher than usual amount of hail and storms this summer. Pros are that we are spposed to get more heat and sun but the storms are supposed to be worse than expected. If the past few summers are any indication, I would be inclined to believe it.

I had lots of friends cars take quite the beat down last summer so keep the blankets handy and the garages clear!

No, but I currently don't have a car that's special enough to cover, lol. (well, not one that's road worthy yet anyways)

isnt that more dangerous if hails hit the owner of the vehicle.

I just run out and lay on the hood if it starts hailing hard.

If you take anything I have to say seriously, you're gunna have a bad time.

Blankeys saved my car an estimated $5000-10000 in hail damage last summer.

Must not have been any other news worthy of fear-mongering today.

If my car is written off, I'm assuming it's fate to buy a new car this year.

absolutely they work. If it is for in a car cover, get some foam instead, people use blankets for portability. For a car cover, get some full front to back and side to side protection.

Blankets rarely cover enough, and for the bigger hail, unless you are using a duvet, won't make much difference.

The only parts of my car that are metal are my hood and
rear quarters. The rest of my Z is made from chopped fiberglass/
poly resin. I've been through hail storms with no damage..but I
don't like to push it as you can still get paint chips etc.

Now that I think of it, I have a mint moving blankie
at my place. I should pop it into my trunk just in case!

Garages are fine for the cars, but what about the garage itself?

I just had the entire roof of my house, all the siding, and a broken window replaced from the storms last year - I better not have to go through all that crap again this summer.

I can attest to blankets saving your car from hail, I live in the Hamptons and had three quilts on my car last summer when the storm hit, and I only had a $1700 claim from insurance from hail, if I didn't have blankets I would have been looking at $10000+ in paint and body repair judging by my neighbors claims on their cars.

Lets hope not because if we keep getting big hailstorms each year like the past few years.
