Think I found an economical solution to my problem
https://www.acklandsgrainger.com/AGI...=FARPEX126-14H
Can order it online and get free shipping, so for about 20 bucks get the proper connectors.
I tried to find those other kind from SharkBite, but Wolseley wants $28 each and like 2 weeks wait time.
EDIT: Looks like the company that makes these is Fairview Fittings and they also make plastic PEX fittings and have a 1" Female Pipe to 1" PEX, unfortunately no 3/4" pex, but for those doing 1" PEX these would be perfect as it would be all plastic on plastic contact.
The 1" version in plastic part number is PEXPL-126-18H

Well I was finally able to track down what I needed in Calgary, and had my friend pick it up for me since he had the day off and was in the area.
Got two brass adapters with 3/4 pex on one end, and 1" female thread end on the other.
For anyone interested, B.A. Robinson has these in stock and they were only $4.61 each
The following line seems to contain their part number as well as the product number, not sure which is which, but with this information I am sure they can find you the exact ones:
780035045 341PEXFA CBXFC45 3/4"
Woot, beats the other configuration I mustered out of home depot, which included an iron 1" to 3/4" reducer followed by a copper 3/4 male thread to 3/4 pex.
How much was saved in the end. I had mine done by a pro while I played in the backyard with my kids. In and out in 1.5 hours for $1100.
For me, about $600 off that price you posted. $429 for the water softner and another $60 in parts. Took me 3 hours last night, and was a fun project that I could easily do myself. So even if I paid myself 50 an hour to do the job, I saved $450 bucks, or like ~2 month worth of groceriesOriginally posted by G

Can you come do mine at my new place?Originally posted by Sugarphreak
I posted my cost, about 40$ more than you, but I bought plumbing tools and sprung for a top of the line high efficiency softener with external brine tank and full 1" internals, plus 40 feet of 1" line for a relocation of it to somewhere more convenient. I probably saved around 800$ or more for something equivalent plus now I have tools for repairs or future work.

Thanks. I keep that offer on my mind when I get possession in 6 months.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
I can give you a hand with it if you want, I actually enjoyed putting it all together... PEX is a lot like Lego
That's exactly what I told my dad when we were doing plumbing in general in his basement. Relocated the laundry room to a different corner of the basement, plumbing the new location as well as a full new bathroom. That was the most enjoyable part of the development.Originally posted by Sugarphreak

I called a few plumbers around town. Most are quoting around $300 to do the install with bypasses. I might just get someone to do it for me.
How long did it take you guys do install the softener and do all the prep?
For me it took 3 hours.Originally posted by yellowsnow

This is my bypass. Originally the 1/2 pex used to run all the way to the bottom, but was moved up to after the bypass as it supplies water that I want softened. At the bottom I just put a new piece of 3/4 pex so that my outdoor water is not treated. With all 3 valves in that position allows the water to go to the water softner as 2 are in the opened position, and one closed. If I put them all vertically the water softner is bypassed.
My connections I mentioned in the previous post, 1" female pipe thread to 3/4 PEX. In total all the connectors, valves and pipes and everything cost me about $70.
Don't have a picture of the final install, will take one later.

Mine leaked after the first night, I saw drippings, so I tightened the one connector but had to redo the other. People say 5 revolutions of Teflon tape + plumber putty is usually a good fit for these things, I just did this stuff called "No Leak" and it hasn't leaked in 4 days now since I fixed it so I think I am good. I had problems with Teflon tape before when doing the basement development, that's when I found this No Leak stuff and it's been great, did all my dad's basement just with that and nothing leaked at all.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
Look good!
You went really tight with the connections from fitting to fitting I noticed. Is the pipe dope holding up 100%? It seemed like it was working for me, but within 24hrs it started to drip.
One of the reccomendations I was given was to provide half clamps mid way between each fitting to help reduce stress
I will take a few pictures of mine today when I get home... mine is like half-clamp armagedon, haha.

Thinking of doing my home too. Costco has it for $639 so i'm waiting for the price to go down.
