Default Stanford: Circuit board modeled on human Brain...

    Very cool...

Stanford bioengineers have developed faster, more energy-efficient microchips based on the human brain – 9,000 times faster and using significantly less power than a typical PC. This offers greater possibilities for advances in robotics and a new way of understanding the brain. For instance, a chip as fast and efficient as the human brain could drive prosthetic limbs with the speed and complexity of our own actions.

Nobody understands why I am obsessed with Ray Kurzweil. God damn that guy is a genius.

I think we'll reach human-level AI within 10 years, and the technological singularity within 20 years.
I don't like to talk about the time frames because its something that is largely influenced by culture and things that can't be plugged into a formula.. I agree with you otherwise though. Scary and amazing at the same time.

If you read his predictions and consider the time they were made, maybe his timing is off, but the evolution and direction of different technologies he proposed are remarkably accurate.

Pissed off at the Transcendence movie though, completely fucking butchered singularity.

    In other unrelated news,

Stanford bioengineers formed new company Cyberdyne Systems.
