New family project.
Is Rennlist a good forum to go to? This car has seen better days and we're slowly restoring it.

Good luck with that my friend...haha....

Ahh the poor mans Volkswagen Porsche.
Filipino family restoration, how many families are contributing to the fund? Cuz you'll need at least 3 full time incomes. Baller!

The immobilizer is malfunctioning. I can only start the car on the passenger side.
SIGH.
Plus side: the pop-up headlamps work again. WIN.

Anyone have a good referral for an upholstery restorer? After the electrics have been solved, we'd like to get new interior for it.
There's Turbo Twists FS but useless if the car thinks it's stolen
Chinook upholstery does good work.

Parts pricing isn't too bad there either...
I also use Rock Auto.
One thing I have learned about Porsche Wiring...
Locate and clean all of your grounds first...Then start to troubleshoot.

Yeah, most of the issues we had were resolved at the relay level. Clean up, really.
WTF IS A SILICONE REMOVER? It's a $20 bottle for the wipers. :S
IT BEGINS. Had to make friends with the Parts Advisor at Porsche Calgary today, and we're buying the whole catalogue rofl.
So many Beyonders rockin' in Porsches now

I have always wanted a 928 but I hear they are a bit costly to work on!
Just get a mechanically sound one and have patience with the electrics. What literally has been done is a lot of looking at schematics, yelling at things, tapping at things, a multimeter, and a lot of contact cleaner.Originally posted by ianmcc

There are some funny vids on my Instagram feed about this, such as this beauty:

Minor Victories:
- It's clean
- It runs well
- It's blue
- Power seats and mirrors now work
- Pop-up headlamps work
- Rear wiper mechanism isn't jammed anymore
Doesn't Work List:
- Door locks (ordered new set through Porsche)
- Hatch release from the inside (Bought hatch mechanism and gas shocks through Porsche)
- Rear wiper motor was jammed, and now it works. It just won't connect with the wiper itself now
- Memory seat function
- A/C even though it's full of freon
- Tail Light Failure error is on even though new bulbs are in it
- Aftermarket stereo sucks and one of the speakers is crackling
- Interior has seen better days (who the fuck ordered this? Liberace? White carpet)
- Cracked dashboard needs to be refreshed
- Driver's window rattles
- Dashboard bulb replacement
- Sunroof gear won't fully engage
- Hydraulic power steering reservoir/pipe has a leak
- There's a tube in the engine bay that doesn't really lead anywhere
That's the to-do list so far.

Neat project car! Is the A/C clutch engaging at all? You should be able to bypass the interior wiring and engage it with the single wire coming off the compressor.Originally posted by flipstah

The clutch is engaging, which is weird.Originally posted by BerserkerCatSplat

You check that all the taillight bulbs are the correct part number? I had this issue in my Lexus for a long time... Turns out a single little bulb was a dual filament instead of a single throwing off the resistance for the circuit... Or you have dirty contact points... Or both
