Yeah 99.99999% of the time, I'm plugged into an external keyboard and monitor, and I do just about zero data entry these days anyway. I really only use the keyboard on flights.

The T580 (15.8", vs the T480 which is 14") has a numpad. So it's really a trade-off of size and portability, which depends on each person's unique needs.

Anyone in this thread use ThinkPads with work? Curious how their service has been the past couple years.

Between DELL, Lenovo, and HP we used to be able to expect next day parts or a next day shipped box so we can send the unit in. The only reliable service has been from DELL, with Lenovo and HP both shitting the bed on repair times. We stopped selling Lenovo since they were unable to provide us with that level of service due to blundering errors and moving parts to a best-effort 10 day shipping. Our rep told me a few years ago that this is fixed, but reps are reps.

Anyone in here have experience with Lenovo enterprise service?

We use a combination of thinkpads and dells. so far the thinkpads have been fairly robust (working in construction like settings, as well as office IT work.) we've had a couple of breakdowns, but no more than the dells i would say.

My Razer Blade is still going strong (outlasted several HP & Dell laptops of my friends and family) with fairly heavy use and getting carted around everywhere with me. Apparently their rep was terrible in the past, but I haven't come across anything leading me to that same perception while owning my laptop. Superior "fit and finish" compared to everything else I've seen (aside from the macbooks), but without the Apple-ness.

Nabbed a 2017 Razer Blade with the FHD display and gtx 1060 - crazy powerful and almost 9hrs battery life. The small form factor is great - there's nothing else on the market with this level of performance in a chassis this small.

For those of your who have ordered from Dell is it normal for your order to just sit as confirmed but not shipped for over a week?

My delivery date isn’t until next Wednesday but I feel like they are really pushing it to snail mail it from China if it hasn’t shipped yet... just wondering if I should be poking the bear.

I didn’t even customize it lol. Hoping to have the thing broken in and set up prior to the 14th if humanly possible. 3 weeks notice seemed reasonable lol.

Keep in mind mine was heavily customized and it took them almost 3 weeks to deliver.

They did the same thing to me. I think it's just a really dumb shipping system they use. I emailed the person that I was dealing with when I saw the delivery date switch, and they never even got back to me. I did end up getting my computer within the time frame that was initially quoted though, which was only several days after I emailed them.

I bought mine for the exact same reason, and my delivery date changed from the end of September, to the end of November. I was pissed, because that is essentially the end of the semester by then. It did show up on time though.

Shaking the tree with Dell seemed to work, got a call from them and they went from end of June delivery to you should expect a tracking number within 24 hours

I hate having to do shit like that but fuck if that’s the only way to get results.

They do a fantastic job there for sure. Aside from getting a better deal it’s the best place to buy a computer.
