I can't argue with that. Like I said on the last page, the only way to combat strangers parking in front of my house will be to put in a driveway and ruin the curb appeal we have right now. Personally I hate front driveways, it's one of the reasons I live in my neighborhood.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Most of my cul-de-sac has front attached triples lol, you'd spoon your eyeballs out if you lived here. But I also hate it, FWIW.

That's kind of what I was thinking. There's no way someone's building infills where I live (or at least not as long as I'm alive), so

In principle, I don't like the fact they voted something in that the genpop doesn't want, but that's also just normal politics these days.

Sounds like a poor people problem
Ah yes. The Ol’ it doesn’t affect me so it’s not a problem argument.

How much weight do the community associations hold on approvals now?

Just cause it’s zoned for it, doesn’t mean it’s gonna happen. Ie. off street parking. If the lot requires a front driveway to make that happen, but community has bylaws against them… no go? This is how it use to be at least

Yeah, I have the other side of this argument. My neighborhood is already has infill 6-plex type housing, and lots of duplexes. I guess the "accessory dwelling" bit is new, or hasn't been done around here. Nothingburger in my current area. Still think the city did this for ideological reasons, and the feds too.

I would hate to live in a culdesac. Zero parking for guests.

Good thing about front garage communities, almost no one parks on the street.

Isn't the driveway for guests? So there's two guest spots per house?

no, project cars, with covers if they're in pieces of course...

but that's only new culdesacs, i grew up in one in temple that was huge, lots of parking and room for street hockey still. i'd love to raise my kids in a culdesac.

I live in a cul de sac and I don't want guests. So it's a win win.

I guess if you only have a couple guests over, but what about big events? Nowhere to park.

The culdesac I grew up on had an island in the middle which was great for guest parking, that is the way to go if you ask me. As kids we were out playing on it all the time with no worries of cars cruising by.

My cul-de-sac has about 4x more street parking than any new community street

I love having mostly old neighbors for that. Everyone actually uses their detached garages for parking. Most of my street sits empty aside from a couple houses that park out front.
