How far east?
Speargrass is nice, well taken care of, but pure links style.
Heather Glen is on the east side of the city.
Other than that, Strathmore has a fairly decent course as well.

Heatherglen is fine yea. Reasonably priced.
If you are willing to go a bit further north Canal at Delacour isn’t a bad track. Usually play a Few rounds a year there.

I've heard Canals at Delacour is quite nice, but have never played it.
Similar style as Speargrass?
Canal is also a links style course similar to Speargrass but I prefer it as it is a better walking course. I think Speargrass is more scenic though along the river.
Ya canal is good, they keep the greens really nice actually. But it’s basically carved out of a field so done expect much tress aside from the second hole.
If you can stomach the drive it’s pretty cheap. I know some members there so I end up making the trek here and there.

Just head south a little, I really enjoy D'Arcy Ranch every time I have played there, significantly more than speargrass.
Serenity is just east of town, I have not played it but heard good things, Lakeside in Chestermere is also pretty decent.

I did the carving. I spent 2 years building that course - I had a hand in basically everything from after when the earth movers stripped the top soil to the seeding (shaping, irrigation/drainage, tee boxes, sand traps, greens, etc.)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Still haven't played it but really need to at some point.
That's the first time I've heard that Speargrass is a pure links course. There are some holes which might resemble a links style course (probably the nature of the flat piece of farmland that used to be there) but it's really a hodgepodge of holes/styles. Canals is a links course. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
