    Depends on what you are doing and what you are removing. On that R8, even though it looks very disassembled, not a whole lot of weight has been taken off of the vehicle. When dropping entire drivetrains out the bottom. I will ratchet strap the vehicle to the lift arms. Screw stands like these:

    Just around the frame rails or what? You don't recommend those stands?

    I will usually find some drain holes or something in the body of the vehicle close to where the hoist pad is sitting. Wrap the strap around the hoist arm and hook it into the holes in the body.
    I very much recommend those screw stands, they are awesome.
