Default Can I park my accident car on my own driveway?

Can you park your own car which has been in an accident on your own driveway even though it still has fire and theft insurance on it?

I can't find this in the bylaws, but I think it's legal to park any car, running or not, on your driveway. Can be under a tarp if you want.
    Not same rules for RV's.

If some neighbor is hassling you, then that's a neighbor problem not a bylaw problem.
The Calgary parking authority is actually a bit helpful too if you call them.

Make sure you have a police sticker and move on?

I've had all kinds of cars laying around without registration on my driveway, no hassles. The one day there was one in front of my house(not one of mine) bylaw picked it up same day.

Same here! Keep it off city property and you're golden. Park it on your lawn if you want (I think).

This requires a toilet as a planter to be within 12' (bylaw f.6969)

Yeah, someone complained about my car being on my driveway. Police came and told me that i can either park the car in my garage or I can park under a tarp. So if I have a police sticker, I'm okay?

I had to look this up, because I assumed the cop was wrong. Nope.

Dilapidated vehicles are prohibited anywhere on private property unless housed inside a building (Land Use Bylaw).
“dilapidated vehicle” means a vehicle that is: (a) (b) (c) incapable of being safely operated; partially or fully dismantled; or substantially damaged.

It’s how you prevent your neighborhood from looking like BC

Wait, so if a car appears to be non-drivable it can't be parked on your driveway??? But A car that LOOKS okay with no motor or tranny is A-OK?

Just like everything else in Calgary, it's all about appearances.

OK, I don't think this is real, or if it is, it's well hidden.

I looked through City of Calgary Bylaw 41M2002 (Aka Calgary Parking Bylaw) - and found nothing about this.
I also looked through the much longer Calgary Bylaw 26M96 (aka Calgary Traffic Bylaw) and also found nothing.
I also looked in the Alberta Traffic Safety Act, Part 1, division 10, section 44, and there's nothing about driveways at all (I didn't expect to find this here, so no surprises.

Now, I can belive that a cop might SAY there is such a rule, but I don't think that makes it true. Wonder what it would say on the ticket, if one was ever issued?

The only thing that seems real is that you can't park wrecked or uninsured vehicles on the street. Or leave a vehicle on jacks, or "raised" or "with a wheel removed"
you also can't park on private property for more then 72 hours WITHOUT the permission of the owner.

But on your own driveway of the house you own, fucking giv'er.

The dilapidated vehicle rule is absolutely “real” in Calgary. It’s part of the land use bylaw. It’s just as real as the don’t park an RV in your driveway for more than 24 hours.

Also not having a motor or transmission would fail it on being able to safely operate.

Basically you cant keep a broken or project car out in the open on your property. This isn’t BC
