Default Body shop for very, very small rust bubble

While taking care of rock chips I found this one spot on my tailgate, only spot that has started to bubble but I want to figure out the best treatment plan before it grows next winter. Can anyone recommend a course of action (ideally not respraying the whole tailgate) or shop that would work something like this? For scale it’s smaller than the nail on my pinky finger

Well you have to sand down to the bare metal and make sure all the rust is removed. You could just spray a bit of epoxy primer and then touch up paint over top. In my opinion it would look worse than it does now, but that would prevent it from getting worse. The only way to make it look good is to repair and clear the whole tailgate.

If you want to DIY get one of these sanding pens and try and clear out the rust.

    This is all accurate.

Back in the day I had Screamin Paintworks do some rust repair for me, and they were awesome. The above was their answer for a small rock chip that I pointed out. Try sanding pen, if you aren't happy with it, then full respray is the only better option.

FWIW, getting the whole tailgate resprayed probably wouldn't actually be that expensive, albeit it's a bit overkill at this point. Depends if you think you'll drive this thing into the ground, or sell it in a couple years. I would suggest calling the guys at screamin, and bring it to them for a quick look, regardless.

I had a similar spot on the wifes Fit and I did this. It has stopped it from spreading, likely needs to be done again... and as expected didn't look great. But savage Fit gonna be savage.
