First off, wow… second off it sounds like more like you’re the one that needs to let some air out of YOUR head and lower YOUR ego.Originally posted by dezinr
I think you need to let some air out of your head man and lower your ego! Maybe that's how the architects you work with are but our firm 90% of the architects are registered. We do in most cases our own working drawings and contract administration as well as all the details along with reviewing and revising all the consultants work.
I understand you attitude as this is Calgary...but in most other cities and abroad architects design as well as do what you claim only you can do!!!
However, what is the need for Architectural Technologists or Contract Admin’s if the Architect is capable of doing it all? BTW, I’m curious as to what office you work in? Is it a smaller office?
Nope… never. I don’t have the slightest desire to “design”. I leave that to the “architect”.Originally posted by dezinr
or...architectural technologists..calling themsleves architects!
My age is irrelevant. Work experience > age.Originally posted by dezinr
I also see that you are only 22 so when you get some more experience in life and understand the design profession then I think you will be ready to comment on what it is Architects do. It's a wonder our city and the buildings look so drab....no one appreciates design. It's sad though all the tecnologists I work with and have worked with were great and their is a mutual respect and it takes one person to give them a bad image....good on you for that.
And I understand the entire process as I have witnessed it first hand. I know the scope of the Architects job in a large scale office and it does not include them being involved to any significant degree in the working drawings or construction of the building.
And I’m sorry I’ve skewed your opinion on technologists, I apologize. However I’m just telling yea how it is and how I’ve experienced it to be. And obviously some of it must be true since your rather defensive on the whole issue. I think your blowing it way out of proportion and looking for an argument.

Any Electrical Engineering looking to work up North? Let me know as friend of mine got a pretty nice contract and said they might be looking for more people.
Wow, 88CRX, did you ACTUALLY bump a quote from August '06 to continue a "My Dick Is Bigger" contest?
Doesn't that make you lose by default?
