Careful with some of the warranties about dishwashers as some will void things unless it was installed by a professional.

At least the water leak can mitigate the electrical fire. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We built in 2017 and had electrolux appliances.
The fridge was making an awful whirring noise by the time we sold last summer. The knobs on the gas cooktop all failed and broke. The oven finish on the bottom of the oven cracked and peeled. The dishwasher did a terrible job cleaning, even half full with a clean filter.
We are doing some minor upgrades in our current place and we just bought some LG appliances. The dishwasher works much better and we are trying induction for the first time. So far so good.

Our main floor fridge is, I think, nearing the end of it's useful life (Kitchen Aid from ~10 years ago), so I'm starting to poke around for when the inevitable happens. Looked for a normal 36" sub zero, and (big surprise) holy shit have appliances gotten expensive in the last few years. >$20k for a standard size with no paneling or anything.
I mean, its subzero.... not for the plebs...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well yeah, obviously haha. Unless my memory is failing me, they were not 10x a pleb fridge price a few years ago though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You get what you pay for.
More expensive repairs for a fridge brand.
IME, KitchenAid seems like the middle of the road pricing and middle-above average reliability.
At this point of buying new appliances, anyone expecting an appliance to last more than 10 years is delusional. The EU might be onto something by forcing manufacturers to make repairs easy and economical instead of tossing an entire stove out because the motherboard is bad, and it's cheaper to buy a whole new stove.
All new dishwashers seem to suck. I suspect this has to do with constantly decreasing the water usage because the government sucks ass. While the new dishwashers may use less water, you ultimately use more because you have to rinse everything first. My old Bosch in my condo was loud as fuck but it sure did a good job cleaning. Manufacturers should make an option for 'eco' setting to appease regulations and then design it to actually clean shit properly by increasing water usage for everything else. Maybe that's the Heavy Duty setting and that should be my default (ironically the new dishwasher is a Bosch 500 series and it's meh if I'm being honest).

They should come with easily removable suppressors, like Harley Davidson.
I'm seeing this "Cafe" brand pop up. What's it's dealio?
Calgary's hard water is also not great for dishwashers / fridges.
Go back to handwashing, you can even stand in your undermount sink while doing it.
Buy a dishwasher that has a short rinse cycle, use that after supper, and set the dishwasher to run the real cycle overnight for Th seven hour or whatever.
My current dishwasher has no rinse cycle option, which is shitty.

Miele dishwashers don't suck. I have one, my parents have one, and my in-laws have one - all are about 5 years apart in age, with the newest bought 1-2 years ago, all work well still.
Bought a Miele dishwasher a couple years ago and it works flawlessly. Gets everything clean without rinsing even on the short 50min cycle. Has a built in water softening system and an automatic feature that cracks the door after the cycle completes to make sure everything dries. Would absolutely recommend.
I really wanted to save my old 90s era dishwasher, but the replacement motherboard was 4 months backordered with no definitive eta. That thing was a champ. I can’t wash by hand for months. Tried to get a Miele and they were also months back ordered. Only Samsung was in stock. Now I know why.
Now I’ve settled into the shitty wash routine. Rinse everything first, scrub caked on food, auto setting at high heat. Good enough to get everything clean if it’s 80% loaded in 2.5 hrs. What a joke. The old dishwasher would fire hose scorching hot water and clean everything even if it was caked in melted cheese in under an hour. I miss that thing.

We went all-in on LG. The fridge had 4 service calls, then got replaced as the tech couldn't fix it. Dishwasher - 2 service calls. Then after warranty I replaced the motor assy once, then we sold it and went Bosch. Replacement fridge Icemaker died out of warranty. I replaced it. Then the Fridge died, replaced the compressor start "relay" Has been ok since. The dryer needed new rollers last year but has otherwise been ok. The washer needed a drain pump and a fill valve but has otherwise been ok. Good thing I'm a DIYer.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

My go to for fridges would be
Miele
Or Fhiaba
Ice makers
Scotsman
Dishwashers
Miele or Cove
Ranges
Fulgor Milano or Fisher & Paykel
Just prefer their look.
Washer & Dryers
I like LG
But if you want the best
Speed Queen or Huebsch in Canada

I probably posted it in this thread already, but my parents Miele freezer died around the 10 year mark. They discontinued parts for it, so the tech couldn't fix it. The recommendation was to purchase a new one for ~$13k. My dad lost his shit and worked his way up the food chain at Miele until he found someone that would give him a 60% discount on the new one. He said in hindsight, he would've got Sub Zero instead, due to the long term serviceability. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Their Miele wall oven is doing funny things as well, inconsistent temp or something. I think the dishwasher and induction top are the only Miele things they've been really happy with.
Anecdotal rundown on our appliances:
Samsung washer/dryer: Purchased 2015, dryer has needed the idler pulley replaced twice, second time they redesigned the part and no problems since.
Samsung range: Purchased 2019, no problems so far
LG dishwasher: Purchased 2019, no problems so far
GE fridge: Purchased 2022, no problems so far
Panasonic microwave: Purchased 2001, will probably survive to the heat death of the universe.
