Sorry. Which 7 months are Hondas crap for?

Because FWD kindof sucks for both summer and winter

FF is by far and away the worst drivetrain. That's not really debatable.

But a really good FWD system, on dry pavement, can still be a lot of fun (as evidenced by countless positive reviews on ITS/CTR).

FWD is a lot of fun with the right car and setup. Economy cars and newer stuff mostly is junk, but cars with high centre of gravity and short wheelbases like the FiST, Abarth 500, Echo, Fit have very comical handling if you know how to drive them, and then cars like the CTR and Elantra N have very stable but fun handling due to the chassis rigidity and longer wheelbase. The only time I’m not zipping around the city getting lift off oversteer everywhere in the Echo is when the fiancé is with me…

Why are you driving around the city like you're on a race track?

Likely because it's a slow car he can drive fast?

I've said it many times, the only idiots that cry about CTR, Type-S being FWD are the ones that's actually never driven the car. Or understand what it's like to have a fun car.

It's a funny image... getting lift-off oversteer in a commuter on... Country Hills Boulevard or some side street in Aspen; reminds me of the time I was in highschool driving my friend's Cooper S in Arbour Lake and some guy ran out of his yard and loudly invited me to "quit bein' a fuckin' jackass." I get he's way more of a 'motor sports enthusiast' than I am, but imagining this little commuter oversteering through traffic with boyracer (he is SPEED) at the wheel is amusing. This isn't a "think of the children and save it for the track" statement, but why would you even care how your echo handles vs. some other commuter?

Idiot checking in. I’ve said it can be fun, and also that a fwd performance car is worse in our climate than a rwd or awd one. The two comments aren’t mutually exclusive.

Are you actually arguing that this car would be the same or worse with sh-awd?

You can't have fun driving a truly fast car in the city. A slow car driven fast is easy to have fun in. Twin knows his shit.

I think this car would be just fine in the winter. I did winter w/ an FWD LSD and it's as good or better than AWD w/ open diffs in snow, esp the dry winter roads. Also, as a terrible race car driver, I'd feel much safer chucking FWD into a corner than RWD, because I don't really need to worry about oversteer, unless the car is setup for it. Understeer is far more forgiving.

I think making the car SH-AWD would add a lot of extra weight, and not necessarily bring any additional performance.

That's why I just say I have a 4" dick and lift weights to make up for it.

In what way? Is AWD that much better in the winter if you drive in the city 99% of the time? With a set of proper tires, FWD get you around just fine, even an RWD with proper tires, so what makes FWD worse? Hell I bought my FK7 mainly as a winter car lmao.

The car could be worse with SH-AWD with the added weight and driving characteristics, no one knows. The whole point is to make a fun FWD car and Honda has achieved that.

Claiming that FWD is better than AWD in the winter is a weird hill to die on

TL;DR - I think ya'll are confusing "It's fine" with "It's fun". And yes, obviously Honda's created a great, fun (when the weather is good), FWD car. They've been doing that for 30 years or so . That's not up for debate.

I never once claimed this car is useless in the winter, you would get stuck all the time, etc, etc. I'm absolutely aligned, this thing is totally useable as a daily driver.

My simple point is low speed/low traction (or all the time, for that matter), oversteer is more fun than understeer. And throttle oversteer is more fun/predictable than lift off oversteer, IMO. And I've had multiple cars that do both of those things, including good FWD cars with LSD, etc. I've also had an S2k that does both of them, sometimes in the same corner if you're not careful. haha.

Is it safe to assume all the Type S are already allocated or has 'market adjustment'?

Objectively I think SH-AWD would make this car worse, but I think it would also open it to potentially a larger market.
