With all these new cars coming out, is there a specific one that you are looking forward to?
For me it is the STI WRX and RSX Type-R, I hope these two cars cross over the border *crosses fingers* hehe

The Lancer Evo and the WRX STi are the two i'm most interested in, although the RX-8 could be fun. Curious about the 350Z as well.
lancer evo and 350z. no sti for me. i've had enough problems with subaru.
EVO EVO EVO!
GTR too! Can't forget that one.
Then there's the new supra... whenever THAT's coming out.
Hey what does it look like? Post some links.Originally posted by max_boost

I just want the new SLK for the new faster roof, the 1000x better interior, and of course the new line of 4 valve engines, including the 3.0L SC 375hp V6!
By the way, the new SLK (R171) will be shown in 04, for sale mid 04 as a 05 model. The AMG probably won't show up till the 06 model (better put your money down now!).

You have to wait so long man! And that ain't cool! One thing I don't understand, if the car is so popular, why not send a few more units over? Like why would you have to be waiting so long? The longer you wait, the more you want to kill Kenny hehe j/kOriginally posted by rage2

Hey, seeing as how you already have two SLKS, do you mind if I get my R171 SLK before you? just jokes... I will definently have to wait and see some official production photos, that nose on the new SLK looks kind of ugly in the current photos.Originally posted by rage2

Hold back the supply, which inflates the demand for the car allowing its value/price to stay high. Sorry had to bust out the econ, even if it doesn't apply. :pOriginally posted by max_boost

It's not that I don't like the new slk (except for the ugly nose). I just don't look forward to it because I have been dreaming about the SLK since 97 (I was 15) and finally buying the 2002 model and then in another 2 years, my model will be outdated!! Then my car might seem ugly compared with the new models.Originally posted by max_boost

From the leaked photos, I don't think we'll have much to worry about in the looks department. The R170 will look nicer on the outside than the R171. The R171 *will* be a much better car though, you'll get a lot more for your $. If the car's not too ugly, I'd upgrade just for the better interior alone. Our current interior sucks.Originally posted by girlRACER

From what I've been reading coming out of europe, the new STi's are quite a different animal from the previous ones. They feature a new front LSD that is much more aggressive acting than the older ones and much beefier power band. The revised springs and shocks make it one of the best handling imprezas ever. I can't wait to get my hands on one. The new STi is quite capable of giving the evo VII some competition, even if it doesn't beat it in some areas.Originally posted by max_boost

I have a question regarding the North American WRX's. Do they have the same basic engine as the Japanese WRX's which makes more power? If so, what's different? Turbo? Fuel/Timing Map? Exhaust?

The WRX has the same basic engine as the japanese wrx (NOT STi though, its motor is quite different from a standard WRX), but the intake and exhaust are both revised compared to the japanese models (the exhaust has three cats, one before the turbo even). They use different fuel and timing curves to accomodate 92 octane fuel. I believe they are using the same turbo, just less boost.
The STi is pretty radicially different from the standard WRX. The STi sports a semi-closed deck block, sodium filled valves, revised heads and cams, a bigger/more efficient intercooler, stronger rods and crank, lower ratio pistons, a bigger turbo with a different impeller design and more boost, more aggressive fuel and timing curves, a front LSD, a 6 speed manual transmission, bigger sway bars, stiffer springs and shocks, a different ground effects package and spoiler, gold colored wheels and a different interior. It might as well be a different car.
