I have got to say, that is pretty badass. But would also like to see that engine in say an astra redline.
Nice- 260HP in that car will be bitchin.
Hopefully it will be faster and not as fugly.Originally posted by Destinova403
it totally seems like another SRT-4... you know... the original one
I've seen the axles break on a Cobalt SS at the track, but never a SRT-4. The Cobalt has a ways to catch up.
Current Cars:
2019 BMW X3 M40i Stage 2, 12.44 at 110mph
1972 Chevy Super Cheyenne C10 Pickup 402 big block, 700R4

1970 Chevy Blazer, 2wd
2003 BMW X5 4.6IS Doushmobile, moneypit
2015 Ford Fiesta ST | Cobb Stage 1, catless downpipe

Thats kick ass. A very strong offering from Chevy

Which car held the previous best?In fact, the Cobalt SS set a lap record for front-drive sport-compact cars at the "'Ring," posting a time of 8:22.85 minutes – besting the previous record by more than 13 seconds.
Pretty sure I read that the axles are different on this guy.I've seen the axles break on a Cobalt SS at the track, but never a SRT-4. The Cobalt has a ways to catch up.
Obviously I have no idea what the individual gears are like on this thing but that seems a little high. Also, since it's an older tranny, I'm hoping it's prepared to handle "No lift shifting" over time. The Cobalt SS's powertrain has a 3.82:1 final drive ratio
260 hp and 260 tq at 20psi. I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds like it's out of its efficiency range out of the factory. The turbocharger is sized to deliver a significant horsepower boost and almost no spool-up lag. Maximum pressure is almost 20 psi.
I think it's great, I'll definitely take one for a test drive.
maybe near the upper end, but shouldn't be over.Originally posted by Mibz

correct me if im' wrong, but the current Cobalt SS have a supercharger right?
ya current is supercharged...they realized there is more power to be made in turbo.
GM has been doing the supercharged thing since the late 80's.
and Dodge has been doing the turbo thing since the early 80's.
The car has direct port injection which is a big deal especially with turbo cars.
I bet there is crazy potential with some aftermarket parts. The direct port injection helps sooooo much.
I guess we'll see soon enough.Originally posted by gpomp

I think this will be the big catalyst for the DI aftermarket.I bet there is crazy potential with some aftermarket parts. The direct port injection helps sooooo much.
Ahh! thats pretty fast.. I dont know if i can ever get past looking at it like the amped up Cavalier though. And its a quick car that looks almost identical to the ballless low-end stock cobalts.
I also think they should have gone w/ the Six Speed.. just to top things off.
And like you guys said.. with a couple parts its capable of some good times. Wouldn't be a bad investment.

I would be really impressed if they applied this engine to the Cobalt SS Sedan.
It looks decent but needs more power, this would do it.
I'd buy the thing to make it look like a total sleeper. Heh heh heh...
They will be.Originally posted by treg50

Well i've officially given up the thought of doing anything more to mine. No point in putting money into a car that won't be supported due to a new engine. Probably wont buy the Turbocharged one when my lease is up either, think ill look for something new.... maybe a camaro

I say stupid shit all the time.
That's pretty impressive but after owning an SRT-4 I just got tired of all that power wasted to the front wheels. I'm done with wasting money on FWD platforms. AWD FTW!
