    Default Tire Width

I need a new set of tires for my Work CR Kai's.

The one's on there now are bald as shit due to the previous owners hilariously excessive camber settings.

So, I'm not asking what tires I should get...but rather what sizing I can pull off in the rear.

    The rears are 9.5 inches.

I'm thinking I can get away with 235 stretched and 245 proper.

...I've never owned 9.5 inch wheels though...so all suggestions welcome.

9.5 wide, what is the offset?

You can squeeze a 235/40 on there but with an aggressive pull. That is with a +15 offset wheel.

anything higher in offset you can keep squeezing in a bigger tire.
you will need to roll your fenders depending on your offset and the tire you want to run.

235s are barely a stretch, its what i have.

i saw a sil40 lowered on pbmcoils with 275s nuff said

with the right offsets sure you can stuff a 275.

on stock fenders he will not get away with 235/40's without an pull.

17 x 9.5 + 12 can fit a maximum 215/45 on stock fenders with inner lips roller. Personally 45 series is way too high anyways if you want the stretched look, your sidewalls will balloon.

You are right, 235's are hardly a stretch for 9.5's but with +15 offset you will need a pull for sure. ottomania is running 235's on the same size/offset wheel.

Judging by the fact you have CR Kai's and they are 9.5" I'm guessing you have 18's.

Judging by the picture i'm guessing you have them in +12 offset.

    Am I correct?

If you don't want to ruin your paint job by excessive rolling, you don't want an excessive amount of camber, and you want to run the 245's, sell your wheels and get +28's instead.

There are tons of kids out there who will buy your rears for close to the price of a new.

There is tons of room on the other end of your wheel. Make the most use of it.

That might be the way to go Marvin. I think the stretched look is silly to be honest. I'm not totally against it...but I'd prefer to run a properly fit tire.

I don't mind rolled fenders...I just don't want to ruin the paint.

Think a shop would be able to roll without wrecking the paint? The whole baseball bat routine is a definite no-no.

Also, I honestly don't know what the offset is. Can't remember haha, I only drove the car for two weeks before it was back into storage.

The rears are 18, fronts are 17.

stretching tire is great for drifting, and for that look that sets the car off.
if you need it for fitment its a plus as well.
but as far as stretch goes i agree, no stretched tire for me this year, its too silly.
post the offset,so we can really helpyou out

I have 235's on my 10.5 +18's out back. Inner lip hammered flat and a mild baseball bat roll. ~2 degrees camber.

+28's will look silly IMO. The 9.5's are sized perfect for s13s. Any reason you really NEED 235's? 225 seems to be the norm for 9.5 +12's on s13's. I suppose it depends if you want the flush lowdown look or balloon tire drag racer look.

What's wrong with a bat roll? Some of the nicest rolls I've seen come from bats...

I run 265s on the rear on my 9.5 rims. Inner lip on fener is rolled flat, looks great and works fine. My car is only lowered by about 2 inches in the rear though. Your wheel offset as previously mentioned looks low so you may not wanna try that wide.

Alright, I'm running +20 offset on the wheels...

...so, let's start over, what sort of tire width should I be looking at?

    245/40 safely nice and flush
235/40 for a bit of stretch, nice tuck
you could even do 255-265 but those are more for tens imho

assuming we're dealing with 18x9.5 correct?
    i would do 235s imho

i'm taking off my tires i ran for a season tons of tread left. if you are interested. msg me

    What sort of tires?

I'm alright with running a...er...fuck, what's the proper term for the over fender that's just the top of the wheel arch?

...loss for words right now. Anyways, you know what I mean.

I'd prefer to not run a stretch. I want a well fitting tire.

    I'm through playing pretend-drift-king.

250 you think I can get away with?

245 in the rear. i wouldn't advise anything that big in the front. i have 215/45 on a 9.5 front and 225/45 on 9.5 rear.

No, front's will remain smaller. This is just the rear's.

245's...so, I already have a slight fender pull. Would I be able to sneek 245's in? Or am I going to need some fender body work?

I'm hearing 245's will run well.

I'm not hearing much about fender flares at that size though...

...any opinions? Think I'll need 'em?
