Soundsaround is shutting all its locations down for good.

Just heard this on the radio, but the owner of the chain decided to close all the stores in a long standing wake of poor sales and even worse profitability.

The stores are expected to stay open for another month or two, then thats it. Kind of odd, as a young kid I remember the owner parking his red Diablo out by their McLeod trail location all the time.
So much for that infamous 50 year old Phareesh guy or whatever the hell his name was at that same location.

I'm going to call and ask if they're going to have a liquidation of all their stuff. I need some car & home audio, and it looks like they're going to have a "Big4" type sale like no other.

I read Best Buy is in the same boat, WSJ says the USA arm cannot compete with the big box stores and Amazon like outlets. I believe a couple of years was all they had left in them.

no wonder they are closing down, they have no idea what the hell is going on.

I called to ask if they had a receiver in stock, which they advertised as last one, told me they had it still in stock, drive down, sales guy can't find it, apologizes for telling me they have it, tells me they are going to take it off their website, and shit this was 2-3 weeks ago, and the pos still didn't take it down.

Ended up going to Smart home solutions, and picking up a receiver for 150$ less then at soundsaround.

I worked with Firoz for a awhile. Very nice guy, but he was consistantly talking about retirement for awhile (he made a lot of money during the good days of electronic sales as well I believe some family money) so I think he will finally retire and be good.

It doesn't surprise me. I worked at Macleod and jumped ship beginning of last year when I saw how they started handling shit. My buddy quit 10 days before the announced the close, and Mrs (owner) was telling him he was making a mistake and big things are going to happen.... 10 days later they announce they are closing... sleazy.

I hope visions doesn't die. They're awesome because they are desperate. They will not, under any circumstances, lose a sale to bestbuy/future shop. It's pretty easy to take advantage of this.

At BB/FS, you can't even start to haggle unless you can show a lower price elsewhere. The sales people have no reason to care because they aren't on commission. Sales people at visions/soundsaround were hungry. As long as you understood that they were full of shit and you did your own research.

I hated Soundsaround. I’m glad I don’t have to look at that store again. Every time I went in there I would leave disappointed. They advertise stuff on the website they don't even have. And when you buy something after 5pm, the warehouse is closed so you have to come back the next day. Then when you come back the next day, it happens to be noon, and the warehouse is closed for lunch. (This actually happened to me) I'm not surprised they are done.

I love Visions, I buy everything there. I hope they stay open for 50 more yrs. After that, I won’t care..

Always hated going into soundsaround when I was young. They treat you like you're worthless, and the feeling stuck well into my 20's, I never visited it after my bad experiences as a 16 year old.

Visions has always been better.

I'm leaning towards online now for car audio. Just got a set of speakers for cheap from the states with little shipping costs or waits.
