Default LF: GIS position - Calgary

My wife is looking to get back into the workforce after her second maternity leave. She's looking for a full-time GIS position, preferably downtown.

She has a BSc in Environmental Science (UofC) and an Advanced Diploma with Honours in GIS (BCIT).
Six years of GIS Experience creating cartographic products and database applications, mostly relating to the Oil and Gas industry.

Obviously, actual resume and cover letter available.

Anyone know of Vacant GIS positions?

Where did she work before? What software is she familiar with?

I haven't used this website personally but there are a few jobs on there that look ok...

Worley Parsons - A friend of mine worked there a few years ago, he was happy to leave but I have other friends in Edmonton that are pretty happy with them.

    Business-Analyst or Data Analyst - ??

Keep an eye on Stantec and other engineering firms for postings as well.

The GOA has postings every once and a while too (mostly in Edmonton though).

She's worked for Anadarko Petroleum and an Environmental Service Company, mostly working on pipeline projects. She's familiar with the ArcMap suite.

One of the positions you posted was a temporary contract. She's really looking for full time permanent work. She already has an offer on some contract work.

Ideally the position would be located downtown or in the north, but that's not a firm requirement.

ESRI has couple postings (downtown) but it doesn't look like she has the right experience for them.

Look like a good job too but experience might be key as well...

Couldn't hurt applying to any of the jobs thought, most places will hire you if you have the right base skill set and are willing to learn their business.

She has applied for some of the positions posted, and is not interested in the spectra job. She's beena supervisor before, and is looking for more of a "worker-bee" kind of position. She can manage people, but does not enjoy it.

She's supposed to hear back this week about one position she itnerviewed for, so that's exciting.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions in this thread and by PM. She has been offered a great position, and she is planning on accepting it assuming the paperwork looks as good as it sounded.
