Youtube is going down the Hulu route. Bomb you with ads until you start paying for Youtube Premium.

Not sure why Google has not came up with a plan to rival Apple One yet.
YouTube Music + YouTube Premium is only $11/mo, some of the rest of the stuff in Apple One you get for free with Google. Both require you to pay significantly more if you want more cloud storage. I don't play any games so I'm not familiar with that side of it. It's not really necessary IMO but more options are always good.

I have YT premium and it's easily my most used subscription, more than Netflix or any others. It also lets you download videos to your device for offline viewing on flights or whatever. I haven't seen a video ad or even a commercial on TV in over a decade and it's been great haha.

I am just salty because they start counting Google photos storage.

Yeah, that sucked - it used to be a Pixel selling feature. I buy the Drive space now, I think I fit into the cheapest category still though so it isn't too bad. I could also just offload my photos/videos onto my PC periodically but I'm too lazy for that these days.

What do you watch on YT premium?

Do the girls doing thong hauls go full nude?

I watch more YT than anything else probably. I watch a ton of reviews on things that interest me, industry news on things that interest me, and there are endless full-length, current, professional documentaries that I find really interesting. All of that is free without YT premium of course, but with ads. You do get access to YT Originals for free as well (Cobra Kai is a popular one). Another perk is background play, so your phone screen doesn't have to be on if you want to listen to something on YT without the video.

Before a flight I will download a wide variety of stuff to my iPad as well so I have something to watch regardless of what mood I'm in. I can't stand ads. There are ways around the ads without paying for YT Premium but I'm happy to pay the subscription fee given the value I feel it gives me.

I also have a subscription to Curiosity Stream and Nebula, which at $15/year for both is the best streaming deal out there IMO if you like that sort of content.

Sadly, no full nude on YT other than educational videos that you probably don't want to ever watch haha.

I have YT music as well and I have yet to come across a song I want that it doesn't have, the interface is great, and the predictive 'radio' stations are really good for discovering new music, but I don't think that feature is unique.

There's a ton of those on YT if you like those ones and you don't need premium to watch.

You can tone it down in the settings, plus there is no reason to spend any time on the home screen during normal usage - Plex, Netflix, YT, etc. can all stay open and you can just switch between the apps with a double tap of the remote home button and never see the home screen.

I did have an Apple Tv banner for a day though

My 2015 died a couple of years ago so I had to get 2017. I just recently sold that and got the 2019 for DV.

Anyone here tried a DV MP4 file with plex? Seems like there is a bug that causes stuttering with that combo. It doesn't happen with mkv's.

If you don't want ads on youtube. You can install smartubenext - https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTubeNext

I have that issue with the plex client with some ogg files. When I get that stuttering, I use Kodi. There is a plex add-on you can do in Kodi in case you want to tag it as watched or whatever on PMS

Unfortunately, kodi doesn't seem to work that combo either. Apparently, if I put it on a USB stick it will play properly through my TV but not worth the hassle. I'll stick to HDR.

Vanced is great, but you can't cast it to your ceiling speakers
