    Default need some info...

im looking at getting a good highway car thats good on gas and not crazy expensive since it will be the 3rd car. i have a chance to buy a few cars and want to know the opinions. no rhyme or reason to them...

    1) 1999 civic si w/ 125k for around 9k
    2) 1999 audi a4 1.8t quattro w/ 160k for around 8k
    3) 1996 toyota paseo w/ 160k for around 5k

im looking for opinions on all of these cars since i want a decent ride that will last me a while and be decent for winter. this car is mainly for the wife and i may throw a couple of things on it just to personalize it. let me know what you guys think and what kind of issues these cars may have had as i cant find anything for myself.

Civic will probably be the best. Parts are easy to get and easy to install. And everyone knows civics are good on gas.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

im not looking for a recommendation. im looking to see what kind of issues these cars may have had so i can decide between them. thanks. also, i would go for the audi in a second over the other 2 but need to know the issues this car may have had and how expensive certain things might be to fix.

The Paseo would be my choice. Two of my friends in high school had them, beat the SNOT out of them, and they still ran like champs, plus they're fantastic on gas.

    here's my two cents...

the audi will have the worst mileage, & the highest maintenence costs. make sure the timing belt has been changed on that 1.8T the A4 is far and away the safest car of those 3.

to choose between the civic & paseo, prudently you should choose the civic. larger catalogue of aftermarket parts. cheaper to maintain, much more reliable and i would hazard better fuel mileage as well.

the A4 & civic 'usually' appeal to different demographics, but in the end it comes down to your wants/needs.

how much you value the following
    safety (A4)
    performance (A4)
    fuel costs (Civic)
    maintenaince (Civic)

hope this helps in whichever decision, good luck on your purchase

Audi is going to be a money pit. They aren't exactly known for being reliable, and will cost you a fair bit in the future with that mileage.

Civics are tried and true, but that one is overpriced. You can get the newer gen for 9k.

My choice: The paseo. Cheap, low mileage, and more reliable than anything you're going to get at that price range.
