catch. simply awesome. non-pretentious, awesome service, and the chef just won a national award for being rad (do a search on here, i started a thread about it).

ok thanks man
+1 for Catch. If you want a white linen type of experience, make a reservation in the dining room. If you want something a little more casual, make your reservation for the bar.

but, i've always worn jeans in the dining room and always enjoyed impeccable service. this is definitely not a snobby restaurant.
^ So true, just a totally different experience between the bar and the dining room
I don't know.....I haven't been there for quite a few years but if it's a big gathering I'd go somewhere else. We had a table of 15 of us in some sort of separate dining area and the food sucked. It was serverd family style (like big plates of sides for everyone to share) and it had like not enough potatoes. It was like small roasted potatoes and there were like 10 for 15 of us. The entrees were cold and overpriced.
I'd go elsewhere but like I said, I haven't been back in years.
I've never been to Catch except for lunch time, but I would suggest Halo. Their upstairs area would be perfect for a larger group as well. The Steak & seafood is exceptional, I've had most of what is on the menu there.

The upstairs area for dining has a great atmosphere. Dim, but definately not too dark. When I went, my date and I had pretty much the entire floor to ourselves and the Flames game was also on too. However, their seafood is nothing special. I honestly would not go again as there would be better alternatives, but it was a nice one-time experience.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

IMO halo absolutely sucks. one of the worst dining experiences i've had in a long, long time. read about it here http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.p...57#post2778857Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

it's easy to talk trash, but a lot more difficult to provide a superior solution. so umm yea.... out of curiosity, what "better alternatives" would you two recommend?

Just giving a quick review of my experience for the OP because he asked for it.
so catch wasn't good at all and there's nothing else that would be a better alternative?
The quote from disoblige is actually about Halo, not Catch.Originally posted by nonlinear
