My car won't even let me turn on my fogs if my highbeams are on

Lol, I've done a few trips on the transcanada from Calgary to Vancouver where I've had to use both my high beams, and my fog lights...

Usually, as soon as I get a hint that a car is coming, they are off before the approaching car even knows I had them on, so I've never been pulled over?

Maybe this was a hint from the cop to maybe turn them down when traffic approaches! Anyone who sees you shouldn't be able to tell you have both high beams and fog lights on as you should have them off before they get a chance anyways!

I don't know about your vehicle, but the amount of power coming off my lights is probably comparable to that of an atomic bomb, so be nice, and don't blind people!

It's illegal and they need to be wired so that when your highbeams are on, the foglights can't be enabled. Not only does it blind people, it's also pointless: have you ever driven in fog or snow with highbeams on? Can't see shit cuz of the reflection!

Yes, I have. I disagree with you.

Highbeams have helped me in some shitty weather. If you are a good driver snow isnt a distraction.

Fogs aren't just good for use during fog and snow. They also help illuminate the area near the car and the dtiches. Can see debris/drifts on the road and deer much better with them on.

There's been a few times when driving in the middle of the night that I noticed having the high beams on, and then turning on the fog lights, extends the light to area's where the sole high beams dont.

This is from people who teach new drivers...

"Turn on your headlights whenever you drive, and especially in rain, fog, sleet, freezing rain, or snow. In fog, heavy rain or snow, do not use your high beam headlights as it only makes it harder to see. "

I have tried high beams in snow and fog before and it's just makes it way worse than low beams

Sorry I'm not able to describe every possible weather condition in a single sentence. Generally speaking, high beams are useless in fog and whiteout conditions due to the scatting and reflection from airborne particles. The lower output and different color of these so-called "fog lights" (note that this name was in common vernacular long before I decided the optimal usage for said lighting) appears to improve contrast and definition. I hope being a Good Driver serves you well in the future.

Totally. I have these rectangular "driving lights" that each hold two halogen bulbs. They originally came with a 50w in the main 2/3rds section, and a 35w in the 1/3rd "corner" section. Once I replaced all four bulbs with 100w it really lit up the ditch which was perfect for evening commutes to Invermere.

Im not trying to be a dick, at all. Im just saying that most of the time - When other people might not use them - highbeams can be helpful if you cant see anything.

I would rather see snow blasting by me than see nothing up ahead.

To each their own, im not saying your opinion is wrong.
