Default Getting rid of 1000 lbs of brick/cinderblock waste?

After some renos, I've got 1000 lbs of brick/cinder block waste.

Calgary aggregate recycling will accept it for near-free, but I don't have a way to get it there. Sending it to the dump with my other household/construction waste would incur a huge dumping bill.

Can anyone recommend a service that will pickup, load, and deliver this load to aggregate recycling on the cheap?

Loading will be a big issue. Nobody is going to come to your place and hand-load this material for cheap. Those student junk hauling folks will do it, but you aren't going to like the price.
I used to work for one of those companies, and if someone wanted me to move that much material, I often made the price ridiculous to deter them. if they paid it, it looked good on me, if not, I didn't have to bust my ass.

Find a friend with a truck and do it yourself, that's going to be your cheapest.

I had a full basement worth of brick, plaster and lathe. 10,000lbs at the scales, lol.

It cost me a Budget moving cube truck for a day, 2 friends beer and lunch, and 6 hours to load it all up into the truck, take it to the landfill and dump it all.

Somewhere around $250 all in, but I think the landfill costs have gone up since then.

(oh, I should mention the truck was only rated for 7,500 lbs too, lol, didn't realize I had so much weight)

I think you are right. I've decided that I'm going to DIY. I'm going to build a "box" to put inside my van to protect the insides, and take it to the aggregate recyclers myself. Two trips I figure.

    Thanks for everyone's responses.

Don't know if this is good enough for you, but my friend used it to haul 3/4" crushed gravel in his van and it worked pretty good:

I've already picked the good stuff out. What remains is crap.

That actually looks pretty useful... Prolly not enough to protect the interior from physical damage as I huck bricks in tho.

I've got some OSB and 2x4s I can use to make a makeshift liner box...

That actually looks great. The pickup fee for rock is a bit unclear, but all told, looks like it'd cost me around $250 to get my brick out.

Probably would have taken it last week, but I've already come to terms with my cheapness and am going to do it the hard way.

Just go on Kijiji and find a desperado, might cost you a hun or 2 but compared to 1-800-got-hosed it's cheap, and DIY'ing is great but what's your time really worth? I'm guessing more than a couple hun prolly. Just a suggestion.

You are right, and I know you're right. I think I'm going through a stupid moment.

Hopefully it will pass - But probably not until after I hump my first load of brick up to recycling.
