    Default electric guitar players

my amps volume is going nuts, sometimes it cuts low while playing, other times its probably louder than it should be...so the question is, do solid state amps die after a long life? (this amp is a crate 120W head on 2x12 crate cab w/ celestion speakers and probably from late 80s mid 90s)

mine is from early-mid 90's, but its for a bass, and its not ruined so far. my electric guitar amp is from the late 90's, and it is also still running strong.

Sounds like you might have a shitty patch cord.

ditto, either this or the jacks on your guitar or amp are messed up.

I always thought solidstate amps were more reliable than Tube amps...
I have a 1970's sun100s tube stack that was a bitch to get replaced...but my 5 yr old marshall amp has never had a single problem.
I bet your jacks are fucked.

I would start by getting a new cable to see if that fixes it, if not then try replacing the jack on your guitar, then the amp....if none of that works chances it is most likely something in the guitar.... pots, selector switch.....

    Good luck!
