upon searching with google, i've found many of these adapter cables ranging from 30-100 depending on length
my frnd has a 50" with a HDMI plugin, and a geforce 5700. currently he's using s-video into the tv, and the resolution's horrible...
will the adapter (hdmi-->dvi) provide better resolutions? or i mean will the comp detect the hdmi tv to provide higher resolutions?

yeah way better, but the cable is like 200+$$

You just need to set your video card to 1280x720. Hopefully your HDMI tv doesn't have too much overscan so it doesn't cut the image down too much. Some video cards allow you to adjust for overscan.

Find a cheap cable, you can find DVI --> HDMI cables for really cheap ($10-$20 range).

don't think memxpress has any
only one thru basic searching is a 1m monster eu video cable for 149.99 at futureshop/bestbuy
at least i can return it there if it doesn't help much

i tried adjusting it up to 1024x768 (max using s-video), but i can't read the words at all. this is w/ the newest drivers and panels, and a 5700 doesn't seem too shabby at all

(~$50) after tax/shipping etc

this one's cheap, but i'll have trouble returning it if I find that it doesn't work or help much

can't find much at the moment

Startech's HDMI DVI-D (Single Link) is currently in stock at ALL memory express locations ( > 5 / store). You may want to call down ahead if you want to get it to make sure that it really is there :D

Ouch! I use the MemEx website as their catalog - if it's not listed I assume it's not available. Guess I'll call next time.

I've spent many many hours trying to figure out what items are on/not on the site. In addition, if it's not on the site I have to make sure that all stores have stock. The areas i have the hardest time with are the startech/acp/elite accessories. It drives me :nut:
