You are not old enough for most companies.

I heard a rumor discount cars will sometimes rent younger drivers a car, but shitty ones.

you are still not allowed to drive it, at all. Unless you don't care about getting caught, then its okay I guess.

Some places will rent to 18 year olds, but very few. Most say 21 or over, unfortunately.

If you get caught, you will have to repair it OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET. In fact, you're dad will have to sign a legal form that states that he is the sole driver of the vehicle. If you're willing to take a risk, go for it. Here are some average prices:

Porsche Boxster = 500/day
Limo = Approx $125/hr
Hyundai Accent = $20/day

i remember a few years back my buddy rented a porsche for me for my grad night.

it's a risk if anything happens so you gotta be very very careful about what you do. best bet is to just rent a limo.

The waiver specifically states that the renter is the only person driving the car. They are very specific with this. They aren't stupid. They know that parents rent cars with insurance and give them to their kids to screw with, so they've used this to try and get out of that.

I've had my insurance company rent vehicles for me twice already because I had mine in the shop. They covered anything that happened because of a clause in my insurance, but the rental company told me both times that I couldn't drive their vehicle and expect to be insured.

seriously.. dont risk it... i think the age is 21 for 90% of the companies. And let say you are a cop.. in a bad mood.. see a rental car with a teenager wearing a tux.. pretty damn obvious if you ask me...

Some places will let you rent if you're under 25. You just have to pay extra insurance. I've rented with Budget before. Its something like another $120 a day

i will be turning 18 in 2 months if that matters?? hrmm i just hope i can find something by then..

legal age for renting is like 21.. so i dont think turning 18 in 2 months will do u any good.. although they probably wont even consider it at all if u r 17

i looked into this a while back, there are a couple companies in alberta who will rent to 18 year olds, but at an extremely inflated rate, as in 140 a day for a cavalier.

dont waste your time, just call up a limo place and get them to chauffer you in a hummer or something nice, maybe a baby limo.
itll cost about the same, and if you have a few drinks, you dont have to worry about getting home. :)

I work at budget rent a car and if your over 18 your allowed to rent a car but they'll charge you a young adult fee of 25 dollars a day and your only allowed to rent a compact or midsized car. Also you cannot buy insurance you have to be over 24 I think. I dunno how it is with other rent a car companies but this is how it is at budget rent a car

your Retarded ...
Budget will NOT rent to anyone under 21, if your over 25 you do not have to pay the additional Young drivers fee of $20
Budget, Hertz, Avis, National and Thrifty's all have a 21 and over rental policy for insurance purposes

Hehe yeah my brother has gotten permission from my boyfriend to use his car for grad this year...he decided a limo wasn't his style...he wanted something that looks good, goes fast and wouldn't cost him an arm and a leg (he also looked into renting but was brutally shut down everywhere). Hehe so he has the nice car for grad, but he's taking my mom's Aerio to the aftergrad...:D

dude i used to work for budget ...i even stop in once in a while to see my old manager, and not being being able to rent a car that i drove around in all day while at work was one of the rules i did'nt agree with.
Insurance companys dont want some stupid 18 year old with poor judgement to be able to rent a 40K SUV or Luxury car and then take it out, do doughnuts and street race in it.
because of a high possibility of accidents they will only rent to mature adult's (21) and they still have to pay a charge for being under age

I thought minimum age was 21 with a credit card, or 25 without a credit card.

CRXguy
12-24-2003, 11:34 AM
I thought you had to have a credit card regardless? Just prepare to pay a an "under-age fee" if you're under 25 though. Something like $20-25 extra per day.

I know National and Hertz usually have Navigator's, as far as "bling" goes.

Way to much to read for me about renting cars.

When I used to rent cars while I lived in Toronto, Hertz was really sticky about age until I told them who I work for - apparently they have a lot of deals with most companies that will let someone under age 25 rent a car. The other thing they told me is if I was to rent at the airport, the age restriction would not apply but assrape rental rates would. So see if they'll give it to you when you tell them where you work. If not, try your luck at the airport. Don't count on them renting you the benzes though
