Looking for a good laptop for my friend's son who will be using it to play games.

must be widescreen, and hopefully have separate video memory, not shared.... unless the $$ is right.

let me know what you have and I'll run it by him.

Why would his son use a laptop to play games? Desktops are much cheaper and much more powerful, not to mention most games are fullscreen so unless you disable the auto-resize function for the monitor the game will be stretched out and look all ugly.

That's what his son wants for his b-day, so that's what he'll get him. he prefers to be under $900.

lol, widescreen toshiba gaming laptop for under $900 aint gonna happen.

let me rephrase that.... laptop that plays any games other than stuff like solitare or 5 year old games aint gonna happen for under $1500.

1 year ago, through sait, Toshiba A70 p4 was $1500 brand NEW. I figure 500-600 depriciation is about right. Something along those lines would work fine.

don't be put off by shared cards,
the mobile radeons are kick ass, I have a dell with a mobile shared card and it runs everything I have thrown at it, Half-life, Doom 3.
It all depends on what your looking for, remember laptop gaming is really hard on the laptop.
