I have to change the cd drive but I can't do it with one side of the cover on. I have the right side of the cover off and the front panel but the left side is like bolted on. In order for me to remove the cd drive I have to undo two more screws which are on the other side but the stupid fucking cover is in the way; anybody know how to get it off? Dell is so stupid, nothing but problems with this damn computer.

OK, look on the back of the case around where the PCI cards are. If it's the kind of case I'm thinking of, there should be some screws around there (Not the power supply, though_ that should be removed. Then the whole back side with the motherboard attached and all should rotate outwards, hinging at the back.

Pics of the case would be helpful, though.

you probably have a removable cartridge type system... look at the front for some screws or clips and then the whole drive tray will probably slide out the front

I think the entire drive bay area casing can be unscrewed and I don't think you can unscrew the other side. Usually it is easier than taking off all the panels. Can you take some pictures of the cd drive area?

according to this there is only actually one fastening screw, the rest are aligning, take out the outside one on the rear and it should slide out the front.

I already looked at those instructions; see the securing screws on the side? Thats what I need to get out of the other side. I've never had so much trouble changing a drive before haha

Why not just add the other Drive? That could make it easier on you.

I did it easily, and I have the same comp as you.

I wish I could, I would have been done in five minutes buuuut I bought this computer a couple of months ago and the burner never worked so dell sent a new one out because I have warranty, so I have to send the old one back. I've had so many problems with all the new dell stuff I've bought.

according to the manual there is only one mounting screw, the other 3 are for alignment.
