i have a 2000 GT-S and im in the feeling the need for some boost. There is a kit around for sale and it costs about 3k us. Now its either that or get a mk3 supra. I wanna hear what u guys have to say.

yea go for it. To downgrade yourself from a slick new car to an old school car takes a unique person. If that's you, power to ya. There is one kit I know of that can get you just over 300hp at the wheels. I'm curious what kit you are going for bud? I heard there are tranny issues for somewhere after 275 hp. I was going to do the same as you but decided on practicality over the "oh shit factor", lol.

Try this question at albertacelicas.org. I believe there were a couple guys runnin boosted celicas on that forum. But either way say no to the HEAVY MK3

Supra.

Why even with kits do you wanna boost a car that after a certain power level will be hard to drive, perhaps give you reliability issues. Sell the Celica and place that money into a well maintained MK III. You will not be sorry. The MK III will handle better, offer more options in terms of aftermarket turbo support, and came from the factory already boosted.

Hmm im leaning towards the supra. I know its ugly but i grew up looking at these cars. But wont a High comp celica not act friendly towards the turbo?

How many more "Should I" threads do you have to make before you actually pick something?

It blows my mind how many people just jumped onto the "Turbo the Celica Bandwagon" in this thread. I doubt that half of you have even researched it. And just feel the IDEA of a boosted Celica would be pimp. Maybe you have delusions of the old All-Trac's and would like to see that all over again.

But remember, a high compression beast with boost, unfortunately does take it's toll on components. YES we have high compression daily driven Honda's...a myriad on this forum alone.

People forget that there are cars out there that already come boosted, will outhandle the current platform stock to stock. And kill it when modded. The MK III although a heavy car yes, has the potential to become a killer on both the streets of Willow Springs and the track, both drag and road course.

So before you decide on what you want to do...Do all the research you can.

And MK III's are BEAUTIFUL cars...

From what I've heard the 7th gen Celica GTS does very well with a turbo kit. Since it's almost 6 years old you don't have to worry about warranty, so I'd definitely look into it. At least it would be something pretty unique, I've never seen a turbo 7 gen Celica before

True, mk 3 supras can handle much more power after the head gasket issue. Id go for the supra, its a heavy car yes but like ek 2.0 said, its a road course car/drag car. It has amazing suspension technology which helped it to get the .86 g's on the skidpad despite its hefty curb weight. Some decent weight reduction, new head gasket, more power adders and u got a beast in ur hands.

I would. I've seen a few too many of the 2000+ GTS's with rebuilds before 100K km's. The Celica GT actually has a more stout engine.

When you say rebuild, do you mean because of mis-shifts or because of the engine failing under normal operating conditions?

Either/or. Personally the mis-shift is an excuse. I don't hear many other cars (never heard of a rebuild in a GT ever which sold in far greater numbers) with so many blown engines from mis-shifts. Most of the B-series engines you see in used GSR's, Civics, & delsols are original and in older cars. Why so many Celica GTS's with lower mileage and rebuilds?
