maintenence question

Acura said that I only need to bring in my car every 8000kms (its only got like 4000kms now)...is that normal? I thought it was like every 4-5000kms that you need an oil change...WTF

When I had my EL it was every 8,000 too. I think our MDX is the same. But, for my Accord its every 6,000kms. I wouldn't really worry about it.

I know with my car, the reccomended oil changes are every 6000 kms. I think a lot of the newer cars require less oil changes and less maintenance now. It also depends on how hard you drive and also the condtions your car is exposed to, stuff like that would be conserable as to when your car requires maintenance.

Damn I need to find a car that can last more kms between oil changes and maintenance. I'm driving 3000 + kms a month now. :banghead:

it really depends on how u drive your car. if u drive it hard, change it at least once every 3000km id say.

I dont drive it real hard, my concern is more due to the fact that this was my "break-in" oil...I've heard that there is a lot of particles and dirt because of the initial break-in of the motor (more metal rubbing and imperfections with metal to metal contacts)...I'm very anti leaving that shit in my car for 8000kms...I think I'll take the bitch in at 5k.

I did my first oil change for the WRX at 4000km, just cuz I heard the same thing.

Well I don't have to bring my car in for service for another 25000kms....Yes 25000kms!

Well its actually 15550 but only because I've already driven 9450kms since my last service which was just a oil change

changing your oil doesn't hurt the car, do it as often as you can afford...

I try to do mine every 3-5000k, its not burning oil nearly as bad recently either, which is always a plus!
